Welcome to Kona Kabiri, a modern cottage located in the heart of Kigali. A cozy 2 Bedroom 2 Bathroom cottage perfect for couples, a group of friends, business travellers or a family with children. The cottage is located in the safe, central neighbourhood of Kacyiru, and designed to offer comfort and peace of mind to travellers — fit with modern appliances, high-speed internet, a washer and dryer, universal power outlets, and comfy mattresses for a good night’s rest. The space Kona Cottages was renovated in 2022 by four friends and designers looking to create simple, beautiful, and memorable stays for guests visiting the country. We’ve put in a lot of effort reimagining an old Rwandan home to suit the needs of a modern traveler, including thoughtful design touches wherever possible to make your stay as comfortable as possible. LIVING & DINING The cottage has an open plan living room space with a dining table that can seat 6 people. The living room also opens up into a small outdoor space where you can sit and enjoy your morning brew. We have a 43” Smart TV set up with a Netflix subscription and a high-speed internet connection (200 Mbps). BEDROOMS There are two bedrooms in the cottage each with a comfortable queen sized mattress (with bedding and linen), side tables and lamps, a spacious wardrobe, and a ceiling fan. Each bedroom also has a small desk with a desk lamp that is ideal for remote working. All windows in the house come fixed with mosquito nets. BATHROOMS There are two bathrooms (one en-suite, one separate) fit with a hot-water shower and a handheld bidet for the toilet, along with extra hand and bath towels. We provide free hand soap, shower gel, and shampoo for all guests. KITCHEN We have a fully functional kitchen fit with modern appliances including a fridge, 4-burner stove, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, water filter, cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery. We stock the place with great local ground coffee and tea bags, along with a few kitchen staples like cooking oil, sugar, salt, and pepper. UTILITY There is a shared utility area at the back of the house that has a washing machine and dryer that can be used by guests at no additional cost. There is also an electric iron, an ironing table, and high-chair for toddlers that can be requested by guests at any time. PARKING The property has space to park two cars in the driveway. Please let us know if you’d like use the parking during your stay. SAFETY Patrick, our trusted caretaker stays on the property and looks after it daily. We have CCTV cameras installed around the house for additional security. The neighbourhood is generally very safe given the close proximity of the Kacyiru police station, the president’s office, and multiple government offices and international embassies. Guest access There are two cottages on the property. You will be able to access all parts of the cottage that you have booked i.e. the living area and kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, and porch areas. You will also be able to access the common garden between the two cottages and the shared utility area at the back of the house. Other things to note We provide free cleaning and change of sheets/towels etc. once a week for guests who stay for 5 or more nights. Alternatively, cleaning equipment is provided inside the cottage for the guests to use.
