The space Nearly 100 year old house, wood floors, original built in cabinets. Fiber optic wifi, all new utilities. Rooms are bright, with views of nature, garden, birds. Furnishings, wall color and art are bright colors. One large bedroom (at front of house) has big closet, queen sized bed, desk with work chair, cabinet, nightstands, lamps and chair. Second large bedroom (at back of house) has two single beds, desk, a chest of drawers, walk in closet, nightstands. Second bedroom opens onto deck with views of trees and access to the garden. Bedrooms are at opposite ends of the house. Bathroom and half bath (at the back of the house) are both newly remodeled with wood trim and Fireclay tile. Kitchen is bright with space for hanging out. Living room is large and comfortable. Outdoor space is shared with host Robin (he/his) and friendly husky host Kira (she/hers) and occasional friends of diverse races, sexualities, languages and religions. This is a sunny part of the Bay so in the huge garden there are orange and apple trees, various vegetables and flowers plus free range chickens, outdoor eating and sitting areas to enjoy. The garden is surrounded by other gardens so is like a quiet retreat setting with full sized trees. There is bird song all day and plenty of wildlife around with regular sightings of hawks, owls and even occasionally coyotes and foxes in the street and eagles and turkey vultures flying overhead. Host Robin is a landscaper so the garden is a working garden with lots of potted plants and garden work underway. Please excuse the mess and the occasional comings and goings of the crew! Host feeds the birds so there's a daily show right outside the kitchen window. Host and friends like to cook and prepare food. You might find yourself caught up in a sauerkraut making party, pickling the summer beans or making apple sauce if you are ready to get involved. Guests are welcome to use the charcoal grill for cooking but please clean up thoroughly afterwards. Laundry is accessed by going outside via stairs from deck and is shared with host. Guest access Guests have exclusive access to the main floor of the house and the deck (except for locked office). You have shared access to the laundry in the basement and may share use all of the gardens and courtyard, being careful to close the gates to keep dogs and chickens apart and safe. Other things to note 2 small or medium dogs (under 60 pounds) are welcome but they must be with you and under control at all times. No big dogs. You may not leave dogs in the house for long periods of time unsupervised. Garden is available for supervised dog use. Please always pick up! There is a friendly husky (Kira) on the property who has free run of the garden. Before you allow your dogs in the yard please message host to arrange a safe and controlled meeting of Kira with your dogs. Don't bring your dog out without making contact first. You are responsible for keeping your dog away from the (fenced) chickens. All gates on property must be closed securely at all times to keep dogs and other animals safe. The host operates a landscaping business from the property so each morning and evening there will be (quiet and friendly) workers coming and going from the courtyard.
