This beautiful Cottage was originally built in the 1920's by an enterprising young couple from Rochester NY, Eva and Chet Collins. With a love for sailing, and the vast wild spaces of Ontario and it's deep waterways the Collins set up Camp, literally! The young couple built a summer resort that spanned 3 generations, and involved a whole community, in it's operation. The Camp Watercombe log books record the proposals, honeymoons and family visits of it's returning guests for over 50 years. We love the Collin's pioneering spirit and intend to continue restoring the original bunkies located around the Camp Watercombe property. We hope you create some adventures of your own under these same towering trees and sandy shores. This area is known for it's excellent Fishing and Sailing. Two swing moorings are available for sailboats. Clean, clear, deep water, incredible views and excellent fishing. 12 min boat ride to Picton (or Napanee) for impromptu breakfasts, exploring Breweries & Wineries, cafés, restaurants and incredible small-town independent shops. The main Cabin hosts a lakeside bedroom, overlooking the water on two sides with floor to ceiling windows and a walk out to the deck. Second and Third bedrooms are located in separate sleeping cabins (seasonal), each with their own covered porch. Great for couples looking for a little extra privacy on their Summer holiday. Large daybeds flank the Fieldstone Hearth making sure everyone has a great space to stretch out. 12 foot Harvest table easily seats 6 with options to eat inside or on the deck (both with lake views). Outdoor seating for those who want to soak up the end of day sunsets or swing from the comfort of the Fringed Hammock in the Screened Room instead. Hope you love the new Butcher Block Counters, Coffee Station, and double Farmhouse Apron Sink overlooking the lake! We were inspired by the Danish design principles of warmth, simplicity and minimalism. Cozy up to the kitchen fireplace (one of three in the cottage) and find your hygge, that feeling of happy restful contentment. You got this! A dishwasher and European combo washer /dryer unit gives you more time to relax. Tucked off the kitchen you will find a full bathroom with a Clawfoot Bathtub for post lake soaking by the fire, YES there's a fireplace in the bathroom! Don't feel like cooking indoors, no problem. You've got your choice of Weber Gas and/or Charcoal Grills outside on the terrace and many great takeout options in town to choose from, or perhaps arrange for a private chef's meal with wine tasting, or Seafood Bake on the beach. Depending on the time of year you may experience pollen on the water, weeds in the water, waves if it’s windy, still water if it’s not windy, and best of all fish and birds and frogs and turtles, bugs ad even the occasional otter or fox sharing the space as well. If you do choose to come and experience this awesome little corner of Ontario, just remember that the closer you get to nature, the closer it gets to you :) While pet friendly, we are not able to accommodate puppies/dogs under a year old or cats (allergies). Come back next year when we've got a few more open for use! Food Supplies: There are staples at the cottage. Please feel free to use these. If any are depleted please replace. Social Distance Advisories - The health and safety of our guests and community members is our number one priority as we reopen to host guests. No group gatherings or events are permitted at short-term rentals in Ontario. Cleaning Protocols On top of our standard cleaning guidelines, we’ve launched an enhanced protocol, implementing a 24-hour rest period between guest reservations. Our cleaning program meets or exceeds WHO recommendations and aligns with guidance from Ontario Health and hospitality industry experts and Airbnb enhanced Cleaning protocols. We are committed to providing clean and safe homes for our guests each and every stay. Before every guest stay, the space is cleaned and reset for the start of their trip. We use a systematic method to ensure that every part of the home is guest-ready. As part of this process: • Interior of the home is cleared of any items left behind by previous guests, and all surfaces are wiped clean. • Hard-surface floors are swept clear of debris and mopped. Carpets and area rugs are thoroughly vacuumed. • All dishes and utensils are cleaned and the dishwasher is left empty. • Refrigerator, freezer, oven, stovetop, microwave, and coffee maker are cleaned. • Dining table and chairs are wiped down and all drawers are clean and organized. • Showers, bathtubs, and toilets are thoroughly cleaned. • All trash cans are emptied and provided with a fresh liner. While disinfecting, we pay special attention to high-touch surfaces, including: doorknobs (inside and out), lockboxes or electronic lock panels, light switches, remote controls, refrigerator door handles, toilets, faucets and knobs, to name just a few. You can also count on more than a clean home. Homes are routinely inspected to make sure amenities are present and in working order. We also check that safety equipment (fire extinguisher, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and first aid kit) is available for guest protection. Finally, guests can simply arrive and relax, since we also provide starter amenities like hair and body care products, cleaning supplies, and basic stock of household items like paper towels, toilet paper, dishwashing soap, and laundry detergent. Guest reservations To minimize person-to-person contact, our homes are equipped with smart locks or lockboxes, letting you check in and check out without interfacing with anyone. We also offer standalone private vacation homes with no shared amenities. If you need to cancel your trip, your quickest option is to contact Airbnb directly to see your cancellation options for your specific reservation. If we are required to cancel your reservation because the property you reserved is unavailable (for example, in compliance with a government closure order), you will be given the option to receive a refund. Other things to note Bring Slippers or Indoor Hard soled Shoes! These old floors can be drafty and warm toes (and warm layers) are key to having a good time. Winter Cottage guests are responsible for bringing: Additional Outdoor Firewood besides what is provided in the piles stacked in the meadow. Additional Propane besides what is provided. It's a great option if you are not comfortable navigating stairs or just feel like taking a leisurely stroll. We understand that accidents can happen at the cottage during your rental. If something breaks DON'T PANIC. Please call and inform us of the accident. This will allow us time to make arrangements to have the broken item fixed or replaced.
