Description
Michaelmas Cottage was created from two 1850s farmworkers’ cottages and is spacious, comfortable and well equipped for couples, families, or groups of friends to enjoy. There are excellent pubs and restaurants just a short distance from the cottage. It is a short stroll to the Bircham Deli / Café, The Kings Head pub and Bircham Windmill. There are many walks close by, which take you through farmland and countryside. The Peddars Way and North Norfolk Coast Path are a short drive from the cottage. The space The cottage garden at the front leads you straight into an original part of the cottage, through a stable style door and into the dining room, with stairs to the first floor. The dining room has a large table to sit 6 very comfortably, with space for a highchair if needed. This part of the cottage has the original 1850s tiled flooring. The dining room leads into the spacious, very well-equipped kitchen which features an electric induction hob, electric fan oven, large fridge / freezer, washer / dryer and full-size dishwasher. There is also a microwave, toaster and a range of cooking equipment and serving dishes. The kitchen has double French Doors opening onto the rear garden. The dining room also leads into a light and spacious dual-aspect sitting room, with windows to the front and double French Doors to the rear garden. The sitting room is equipped with comfy sofas and armchairs, smart TV, DVD player and a music system. There is a log burner in the front part of the sitting room, for cozy winter evenings, and there are baskets of children’s toys, board games, books, and DVDs for all ages. There is a ground floor shower room with a toilet, basin and walk-in shower. The traditional Norfolk winder staircase leads from the dining room to the first floor. Here there are two spacious double bedrooms, both with king size beds, deep comfortable mattresses and plenty of storage. There is a light and socket beside each bed. In both double bedrooms there is space for a travel cot, if required. The twin bedroom overlooks the rear garden, paddocks and fields. Both beds are full size single, each with a bedside light and there is an electric socket between them. These beds can be put together to make a third large double if required (space is limited with this option). There is room for a travel cot in this room, if required. There is a spacious bathroom on the first floor, with a toilet, basin and a bath with a power shower over it. Outside there is a small front garden and a large, sunny, secure rear garden overlooking paddocks and fields. The rear garden is attractively designed with grass areas, flower beds and a small sun terrace, ideal for a morning coffee or an evening drink. There is a gravel area with a dining table and chairs for 6, and a charcoal BBQ, ideal for alfresco dining in the summer. There is parking for 3 cars on the driveway and a pathway from the drive to the rear French Doors of the cottage. In the rear garden there is a lockable shed for guests to use, ideal for secure bike storage. Guest access Guests are welcome to use everything that is available in the cottage and shed during their stay. Other things to note The traditional staircase might be difficult for any guests who have mobility issues. We offer flexible stays with a minimum of 3 nights. In high season we would generally offer stays of 7 days minimum, with a Saturday start. However, if a shorter stay is required in high season, please contact me and we will try to accommodate a shorter stay if the cottage is showing vacant on the availability calendar.
