You will be close to everything when you stay here! Within two blocks to parks with small pools for the kids, great biking around Lake Hiawatha, Lake Nokomis and Minnehaha Parkway (end at the falls!). If food is of interest ... 1 block from awesome wood fired pizza restaurant, authentic Mexican restaurant or a local bar/restaurant. 1/2 mile from a local bakery and coffee shops. And, if you'll be flying into town, our place is just 6 miles from the airport ... that's a pretty cheap Uber ride! The space My home is a safe space for folks from all minority and marginalized groups. I welcome guests of all races, faiths, genders, and sexual orientations. This rental includes private use of 1100 square foot 1 1/2 story Mpls home. There are 3 bedrooms, though only two are available with rental (we keep our 11 year old's room locked during rentals .... no one should be exposed to that explosion! :) The main area has tile and wood floors & includes living/dining room, Kitchen, full bathroom, and bedroom #1 which has an amazingly comfortable King bed. The kitchen has all the equipment you need for your stay. If you are a "coffee person", there is a coffee station that includes a Kuerig for a quick cup of coffee, or if you prefer to "create your own" there is a grinder/scale/tea-pot for a nice "pour-over" experience or French press. In the living room there is a comfortable couch to put up your feet to read or view programming on the large flat screen TV. The TV has Roku streaming services available as well as a blue-ray DVD player; a guest Netflix account is set up for your use and other streaming services are available to connect to with your private account. There is one full bathroom on the main floor. Upstairs is a "1/2 story" suite with one queen bed, a daybed, and a nook with a twin mattress for sleeping or a nice little reading area for kids. Personally, I think the daybed is really only big enough for kids, but the twin mattress on the floor in a nook is quite comfortable. The house has central air conditioning, but on very hot days the upstairs can still get a bit warm, so there is also a thru wall AC unit up there. There are front and back entrances; guests will enter through the back porch where there is a keyless entry. Both the front and back entrances are through covered porches; in front a small sun porch that doubles as quiet place for yoga & stretching and in the back a large screened porch for lounging and entertaining. Through the kitchen there is an entrance to the basement. If you have kids, this should have plenty of randomness to entertain them! The basement is unfinished, so we made it into a full-out play space for kids to hang out. There's a gym zone with lots of things hanging from the ceiling (rings, swings, hammock), a foosball table, a music nook with a keyboard, xylaphone & guitar and an area for lounging, Rock band & darts. The laundry is also located downstairs. There is a new washer/dryer that guests may use free of charge if desired. We also have a "shop" downstairs in another sectioned off area; though I have removed the power tools, this area is off limits due to possibilities of children getting hurt. Guest access Please enjoy all the yard space and entertain at will. Screened in back porch has a fire table and comfy seating, so it’s great for mosquito free evenings. In the back yard there is a patio table/chairs, fire pit area, as well as croquet. Other things to note: For WINTER guests, I have a driveway, so no worries about moving your car on snow-emergency days … aka, no worry of parking restrictions or getting towed!
