WOOD HOUSE Garden by lake Mjøsa -30 min OSL

Description

Welcome to nostalgic and authentic Norwegian cabin holiday. Perfect for those who love a private nature experience far away from densely built cabin areas. Early morning chorus in the outdoor shower overlooking Norway's largest lake (April to October). Or refreshing beach bath in walking distance (700 m). The kitchen garden or picking berries before breakfast (summer), coffee on the bed with the tranquility of spectacular forest and lake views. Good food and play in the garden, or unforgettable glimpses of the wild animals of the forest? The space Return to nature and the roots of why we first began to travel, with a resting pulse from arrival to departure, authentic experiences, presence in the moment. Here you can retreat, relax, come home rested again and without the need for a 'vacation' after the vacation. The building style of the cabin is a Norwegian tradition from the Viking Age until the 1850s. Most of it is preserved from the year of construction, but upgraded in 2023/2025 to meet today's requirements for a comfortable good standard, outside as inside. Outside, we have in the summer season several different seating areas and double sunbeds, barbecue and campfire places, darts, badminton, children's toys, outdoor shower, kitchen garden, bird tray for bird watching, and SUP for use on the lake. For the winter season we have a selection of board games, puzzles, books, The Frame TV with various streaming services. If you just want to enjoy the spectacular views to the forest, the lake and the mountains around the cabin you can just remain at the cabin, enjoy the tranquility and order the groceries to the door delivered from the ODA. Locally produced foods you get bought 5 minutes away by car. Enjoy the slopes walking from the cabin to the sea life and beaches along Lake Mjøsa in summer and by car uphill to the alpine and cross-country trails at Hedmarksviddene in winter. Do you want nature experiences in the surrounding areas? The cabin is located in the middle of a large selection of short-distance activities all year round, such as bike trails, hunting and fishing, SUP or canoeing, bird watching, adventure or climbing park experiences, golf, cross-country or alpine skiing. How about' slow travel' by train or boat trips in spectacular nature along the lake to the Olympic city of Lillehammer, Hamar, Gjøvik or Oslo. We have a dedicated digital guide to give you the best local experiences. The cabin is more than intimate enough for two guests and big enough for the whole extended family or group of friends: BEDROOM I, 1st floor has a double bed (160 cm) and a wood stove with forest view. Bedroom II, 2nd floor has a double bed (180 cm) with forest and sea views. Bedroom III is located within so it is not a private sleeping area with a door. Here you'll also find a TV with Cromecast. BEDROOM III, 2nd floor, located inside the bedroom II loft and has a double bed (150 cm) and a single bed (90 cm) with a forest view. LIVING ROOM has sleeping alcove with daybed, a queen bed (150cm) where you can find the tranquility from sunrise to sunset over the lake. Here you will find the artdeco fireplace from the 1930s, large sofa for all the guests with a view to the lake Mjøsa and the forest, dining table and new The Frame TV with streaming services (Netflix, Max, Disney+). THE KITCHEN is new and has a large sink, dishwasher, stove and fridge and view to the kitchen garden. Here you will also find the original cast iron stove and a view of the kitchen garden. THE BATHROOM has a new shower cabin, sink and Jets vacum toilet, with a view to the forest garden. We are still renovating, this year we have installed new windows and doors, insulated walls with new wood paneling and renovated several of the house's original furniture from the 1930s. Our modernization of the 1930s villa is a process where nothing is perfect at all times. The nature garden and the lake are our representatives for a perfect holiday! Guest access Please note that this is a self-service cabin. This means we don't have bed linen, towels or cleaning included. When you rent the cabin, we ask you to clean and tidy according to the house rules and checklist before departure. Cleaning equipment is available. If you want to order cleaning and/or towels and bed linen, we will arrange this at an additional price of NOK 1,250 for cleaning and NOK 150 per set of bed linen and towels. This is paid through AirBnB upon booking. Other things to note We have our own water treatment plant for coffee, tea, shower and cleaning. The cabin is located in the middle of the forest with all the animals, birds and insects that live there. Our guests must love to live in Norwegian nature and master visits inside as outside of both mosquitoes, ants, forest mice and spiders' spider webs, etc. From the main road and up to the cabin there is a steep winding gravel road with bumps. Cars can be parked further down the gravel road, and walk the last 50 meters. When using electricity that differs significantly from normal consumption, the electricity cost will be settled after the stay. For stays of a week or longer during the period October through April, electricity is not included and will be settled at check-out. Currently, Norway's longest train bridge is being built over Mjøsa from Espa to Tangen, so some noise may occasionally occur. An exciting construction to follow!
