Clapton Manor Cottage
Clapton Manor Cottage
Description
Minimum 3/4 nights depending time of year. Weekends often possible in low season. Travel cot and high chair supplementary cost Beautiful converted barn, but all our guests call it a cottage, situated in the grounds of Clapton Manor. In the very heart of The Cotswolds it makes the perfect base to explore. Situated on the top of a hill, fabulous walking straight from the garden. Five steps away from The Monarch's Way...might King Charles II have stopped for a glass of ale? Who knows... The space Clapton Manor stands on a hilltop in the very heart of the beautiful Cotswold hills. It has been home to our four children, our dogs and us for over 30 years. The 16th manor house and 19th century cottage offer serene retreats in a quiet hamlet. Surrounded by our garden, the properties blend historic charm with modern comforts. The hamlet is very quiet, on top of a hill above Bourton-on-the-Water overlooking the Windrush Valley. Perfectly situated, we are an ideal base to unwind and explore the attractions of the Cotswolds: ridiculously pretty villages and rivers and remarkable wool churches, gardens and historic houses. Not to mention some of the finest walking both up and down hills and for those less hill-inclined, some pretty good flat walks! Then reward yourself by eating in any of the superb pubs nearby. This barn conversion, but all our guests call it the cottage, sits in the garden of Karin and James’s house, where Karin has offered bed and breakfast for over 30 years. The cottage faces away from our house so you are very private and not overlooked. Walk straight in to an open-plan sitting room with exposed stone, comfy sofas, books, games and original art on the walls. The feel is one of warmth and light. The kitchen gleams, has plenty of prep space, a convector hob and all the kit you need. Up carpeted stairs is an incredibly comfortable super king (or twin) bed with Hungarian goose down duvet (thin woollen duvets or sheet and blankets for the summer) and pillows, fresh fabrics and good bedside lights. There is an en suite bathroom with a large walk in rain shower. There is a large lawn and a terrace with seating for al fresco meals (and sun loungers). Sit and look at stars on clear nights with hardly any light pollution. Listen for owls, spot hedgehogs. For further reviews, please see The Barn at Clapton Manor on the Sawday's website or Trip Advisor Guest access The Barn looks onto a field with wild flowers, spring bulbs, blossoming Japanese cherry trees and brilliant colours in the autumn. Other things to note Unfortunately your dogs cannot come and stay.
