Our home is located in the middle of the beautiful village of Bristol; our private guesthouse is only a few minutes walk to town with great restaurants, a few bars, shopping, and specialty stores. The village of Bristol is in the heart of the Green Mountains close to Middlebury and Burlington, major ski areas, Lake Champlain, minutes to Vermont's best mountains, rivers, swimming holes, fishing, hiking, and biking. We have lived here over 25 years and we will be happy to guide you any way we can. This Modern Vermont Farmhouse is a recently renovated small guest house and planned with a lot of love for our guest's comfort. This space is attached to our main house, yet it is completely private! The original structure for this addition was an 1890's barn and wood shed as part of this Italianate farmhouse. As part of the renovation of this project, we wanted the design to tell a story about the history of the original house while incorporating the simplicity and convenience of a modern design. In keeping with the farmhouse theme, we intentionally saved much of the original barn structure and where possible we used salvaged farm materials. This guest house has many custom features; a wonderful new bathroom, a comfortable bed, fresh beddings and linens. No personal items of ours are kept in the master bedroom area as it is solely set up for our guests and their comfort. The sitting/living area is also set up to serve the needs of our guests and the only personal items we keep there are some art supplies and materials only because we use this room as our art studio when we don't have guests. This space is nicely furnished with mid-century pieces and architectural salvaged pieces. It is a wonderful space for our guest to relax, read, lounge, build a fire in the wood stove, kick back and rejuvenate. There are plenty of books and magazines and some games for our guests. For your convenience, we have built a small kitchenette area with a small fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, tea kettle, sink, dishes, and utensils. We have also set up a small grill and an outdoor dining table and chairs in your private yard and garden for your use should you want to chill and have a small BBQ. Just to note, we keep a small chicken coop in our back yard, they are very cute and friendly (our young guests favorite). As long as it is their egg-laying season, before you leave, you may want to gather some fresh eggs and take some home with you. All and all, we both enjoy being hosts and will do everything we can to make this a memorable and relaxing stay for you. ********************************************************************************** Booking is your agreement to the house rules and to presenting a Government ID upon check-in and the same is required for an additional guest to provide; Name, Address, & Government ID before and upon arrival. Full Covid 19 Vaccinations also required. *********************************************************************************** (Note: We absolutely love hosting children! You may notice on the listing that our place is not suitable for young children. This is mostly because we have a wood stove in the living room which some of our guests like to use during winter months. Many of our guests choose to accept that as an at-your-own-risk condition and they either decide to not use the wood stove in the winter months or closely supervise their children. In all cases, we advise our guest to inspect and child proof our space as they wish at their arrival.) Private keyed access. We will be in the main house and we will be more than happy to assist you with anything you may need. Bristol is your typical quaint New England Village; great for an evening stroll, or some easy walking, and meeting locals. One of Vermont's finest swimming holes and waterfalls is only 2.5 miles away. The center of town is about a ten-minute walk to local restaurants, bars, stores, Town Green, and playground. No public transportation to speak of. You have your own parking space in our driveway. ********************************************************************************** Booking is your agreement to the house rules and to presenting a Government ID upon check-in and the same is required for an additional guest to provide; Name, Address, & Government ID before and upon arrival.
