The Workshop & Loft

The Workshop is a beautifully designed 2 story, rustic stone building. Fully self-contained with well equiped kitchen. The jarrah staircase with natural acacia railing leads to the upstairs lounge room and library. French doors open to the balcony with gorgeous views out to the mountain and over the creek line. Relax and take in the pleasant beauty of the bush. The Loft Bedroom joins onto the Workshop kitchen and is accessed from the verandah. The space Please take note that the Workshop & Loft have stairways so may not be suitable for young children or elderly people. The Loft Bedroom has a mezzanine double bed up steep steps and a single bed below. There are 2 sofa beds upstairs in the Workshop which can be used for sleeping. The Workshop & Loft joins the neighboring Kookaburra House accommodation with a spacious undercover BBQ, gathering area. This is a shared space. The Workshop/Loft can be booked together with The Kookaburra House for groups. It's a great space for 2-3 families. See our website for all accommodation options at our Bush Retreat. 'Kookaburra Creek Retreat.' Guest access The Retreat is accessible to all types of vehicles with care. The road is a little stony in places. Please drive at 15kms or less along the road, as there are many kangaroos along the way. Guests can feel free to explore our 80acre property. There are a couple easy, short walks, ranging from 30-45mins return. There is direct access to the Willowie Forest next door. This is part of the Mt Remarkable Nat Pk. Hiking options and also 20kms worth of single track mountain bike trails. The Wilmington to Melrose Rail Trail passes the property and will take you 10km into our nearest town of Melrose or 10km to Wilmington. Walking allow 1.5- 2hrs one way Riding allow 40mins- 1hr one way Other things to note The Workshop/Loft is quite a unique setup, so here's some info about this space to check if it's suitable for you... The Workshop and Loft bedroom are rented out together. The Loft is a separate room but joint onto the Workshop. It has a double bed up quite steep steps on mezzanine floor, and a single bed below at floor level. Please note that the steps going to the Mezzanine double bed are steep. It is not suitable for young children or elderly people to sleep up there. There's not a great deal of space but an extra mattress can be laid on the floor next to the single bed if needed.(Ground level.) The Workshop is a 2 storey building, kitchen/dining below and lounge room, library and balcony above. The lounge room upstairs has 2 double size sofa beds. These can be used for sleeping, but we don't recommend for young children to sleep upstairs because of the stairway. Please note: at this stage there are no gates on the stairways. Please be aware of this with children. The toilet/shower and laundry facility is right next to the Workshop. This ablution block is a shared facility with our Bedford Bus Accommodation guests, and possible campers staying. You will have a key for your own private toilet/shower. It will be hanging on the notice board in the Workshop kitchen. Linen only supplied on request- As we totally rely on our own water catchment, and with the additional water carting during the current climate conditions, please let us know if you’re able to help us reduce our water use, by supplying your own linen and bedding.  If supplying your own please provide sheets, quilt, pillows and towels. Linen and bedding can be supplied on request if unable to supply your own. Full linen hire including sheet set, quilt plus cover, pillows plus covers and towels- Once off linen hire applies $30/person. Please let me know how many require bed settings I will adjust the booking for you.
