el Castillo - spanish-inspired getaway in SD mtns
Come for the pie, stay for the tranquilo. Lovingly remodeled castle-in-the-woods guesthouse/tiny home with Mexico-inspired designs and modern amenities. Enjoy the tree lined backyard with pool and sauna. And just 5 minutes from town. Your stay will be at a quiet Spanish-inspired guesthouse/tiny home that looks like a castle (one of two units on property). Check-in as early as 12pm/noon. Pull up onto the flat parking area just below the Castillo and head up one of two brick staircases to the front door. Enter into the main living and kitchen areas with heated saltillo floors throughout (winter months). Cook like you're at home in the full kitchen stocked with all the essentials, an eat-in bar top, and continental breakfast items. Relax overlooking the pool in the cozy living room with a board game or modern amenities like Netflix. You'll find a king bed in the bedroom and a queen-sized pull out couch, both with comfortable memory foam mattresses. The space is well thought out and includes hangers + iron, a built-in desk area with books to peruse, and an acoustic guitar to fiddle with! Enjoy the separate spa-like shower room with a rainfall shower head and organic hair/body care products. The toilet room is small but is equipped with everything you need; bonuses like lotion, air freshener, and a bidet. el Castillo has a whole-home water filtration system and drinking water. Access the private pool/patio/sauna through the bedroom. Bath and pool towels provided. Watch occasional deer and wildlife roam the property. No rush leaving - check out as late as 3pm. You may access your unit and the pool/patio/parking areas during your stay. Please stay within these areas for safety reasons. The second unit is the owner's private residence during the weekdays. I will not be on-site but available if anything is needed. I will be approx. 1 hour away in San Diego. Setting is a residential mountain neighborhood 5 minutes from town. Your own vehicle is highly recommended. Plenty of parking on the flat area next to the driveway the property. Winter months - recommend 4WD and you MUST carry chains! Internet is generally reliable but not guaranteed. Most cell providers work well in the area, but not necessarily the entire drive up here. There is potential for severe weather or fire events. Winter months - you MUST carry chains (amazon/walmart/autozone). Please note: rental car companies will tell you they do not allow chains. Please check local weather prior to travel. In the event of a power outage, the Castillo has an automatic backup battery - we will ask you to limit power usage should this occur during your stay. Julian is a dark sky community; we recommend arriving for the first time during daylight hours to acquaint yourself with the property and surroundings. Property is on a septic system - DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING OTHER THAN TP PROVIDED. Please note that you are in the mountains - there are critters, animals, bugs, etc. here! Fireplace is currently not for guest use. Keep gates locked. And please drive safely!
