Please Note Duke’s Cottage is centrally located on the edge of the pretty Village of Easton, this makes it an ideal base for exploring the Island and wider Jurassic coast. Portland is the home to the UK Olympic sailing team with phenomenal sailing all your round (WPNSA is only 7min away). Portland is a mecca for rock climbers many of whom have travelled from around the world to climb here. Due to its geographical location Portland is ideally suited for bird watching as it sits on many species flight paths traveling north and south depending on the time of year. With its rugged cliffs and secluded coves steeped in myth and legend, this really is a beautiful place to visit all year round. Portland Bill is 6min drive or 2.5mil walk along the cliffs and disused railway line. The Cove Pub in Chiswell is on the beach with views over the sea, this is a must do at sunset! Quiddles Café is 4min from the cove, an easy walk along the boulevard with live music provided by local musicians outside in the summer, this is a delight for any summer’s evening. The sea on this part of the Island can be treacherous for swimmers so please check before you enter the water. The rule of thumb is that if the locals are swimming then you’ll be safe. The lobster pot Café at Portland bill does very good local Crab. White stones Café in Easton village is a gem when you go in head out the back into the garden, it’s an oasis where the food has always been exceptional. The Corner House Inn opposite the Cottage is truly one of the last village pubs, no frills, just an honest pint. A very quiet pub you won’t notice is there. Weymouth is a short hop across the causeway, if you want restaurants and a lively night out with regular buses back to the Island running late.
