River Crossing, Tirthan Valley River crossing in the Tirthan Valley is an adventure sport for people who are looking for some adrenaline rush in the quiet valley. A person is tied to a safety harness and slides from one point to the other, with the turbulent Tirthan river gushing underneath. The icy cold spray of the river while taking on the sport, sure is a motivating factor for enthusiasts. Serloskar Lake, Tirthan Valley Serlosar Lake, another major attraction of the village, is located about 5 km from Jalori Pass. The walk to the lake is equally enchanting from Jalori pass, with a thick cover of oak trees. The lake is located at an altitude of about 3,100 metres and is believed to have medicinal properties. The place is better known for its temple devoted to Goddess Budhi Nagin. It is believed that the Goddess has a hundred sons and acts as a guardian of the place. The trek to reach the lake is moderate and it is advised to carry own refreshments as there is one shop half a kilometre before the lake. Some guesthouses have been set up near the lake now. Jalori Pass, Tirthan Valley Almost 80 km. from Kullu, Jalori Pass is a stunning place for trekking and picnic at an altitude of 3120 m above the sea level. Pack your bag, lunch and gear up your shoes to enjoy the stunning view of the great Himalayas with Dhauladhar stretched in a line peaking from far behind. The view gets all the more captivating with slopes sprawling with rhododendron bushes shining in the hue of pink and purple. A surprise awaits here for you from the months of December to late March in form of snow. Great Himalayan National Park, Great Himalayan National Park located Kullu region of Himachal Pradesh, is home to more than 375 species of fauna, 31 species of mammals and 181 species of birds. The Great Himalayan National Park received the status of a national park in 1999. This beautiful location of the national park becomes all the more attractive due to the Deodar and Oak trees. The secluded location of the park has made sure that the villages inside the park have a culture of their own. Every village inside has a deity of its own. There are also some fairs organized here during April, May, August, and September. You need to obtain a permit to visit the Great Himalayan National Park. The permits for the core zone of the park can be obtained at the Shamshi head office and the range offices at Ropa in Sainj Valley and Shairopa in Tirthan Valley. There are different levels of trekking that can be done inside GHNP. Moderate day-long treks to difficult multi-day treks are organized on all the four valleys of the park including Tirthan, Jwar Nala, Parvati and Sainj. It is compulsory for the tourists to seek prior permission from the park officials for treks held on different days.
