G maps sometimes recommend this route, but there`s no way to know it`s a gravel road and there is an alternative. 1. Take a right out of the neighborhood, Beaver Creek Road turns into Montezuma Well Road which is a 4-mile gravel road. You do not need 4-wheel drive, but if you have a lower-clearance car, you`ll have to drive slowly. If you have a higher clearance car, this is recommended since it`s shorter. 10 miles to Red Rock Visitor Center in Sedona. 2. Take a left out of the neighborhood, stay on Beaver Creek Road, take the ramp on the right to highway 17, and go one exit (Exit #298 Sedona 179). This is faster if you have a lower-clearance car and prefer not to go on a gravel road. 15.2 miles to Red Rock Visitor Center in Sedona.
