Farmhouse Retreat 15 Minutes From Ithaca / Cornell
Farmhouse Retreat 15 Minutes From Ithaca / Cornell
Description
Our restored farmhouse is a rare gem in the Ithaca-area. This peaceful country retreat is just 15 minutes from Cornell, 20 minutes from downtown Ithaca, and a short walk to playgrounds and ice cream in quaint Freeville. Waterfall hikes, wineries and other amazing destinations are a 10 to 30 minute drive. The house is fully equipped for a family or group of friends including comfortable beds, kitchen, spacious living room with wood stove, workspaces, sprawling grounds, small gym space and sauna. The space Our home is spacious, bright, and comfortable, with the character of a historic farmhouse. On the first floor you'll find a fully equipped kitchen (the owner is a chef) with a large open-air deck off the kitchen and picnic table area in the adjacent garden. The kitchen connects to a dining room with a farmhouse table that seats 8, and a spacious, south-facing living room with a wood stove. French doors in the living room open up to a large sun deck with sweeping views of the wetland preserve bordering the farmhouse. The first floor also includes a very large and well organized mudroom, full bathroom with shower and tub, and a three-season screen-in porch for bug-free, covered dining and listening to the chorus of peepers and birds. The porch also includes a futon for sleeping! The second floor includes a sunlit master bedroom with king bed, full bath with shower and small tub, and wetland views, two smaller bedrooms with single beds perfect for children, and a large office with a standing/sitting desk and great views. A private, tiny cottage is in the backyard, with a queen bed, full bathroom, and workspace. The basement includes a washer / dryer, playroom, drum set, and sauna. Outside we have ample yard space, some woods to explore, a soccer goal, several hammocks and swings, and a "mud kitchen" stocked with pots, pans, and dishware for play. There are two small, natural ponds where frogs like to hide. It's a magical place for children to play. As hotel owners, we've done our best to anticipate our guests' needs, and we are always happy to hear how we can improve your experience! Guest access Guests are welcome to use the entire house (minus a locked closet or two) and the grounds. Other things to note We have one barn cat who lives outdoors and in the garage, and is cared for by our neighbors. Stripey is very friendly! Note for people with cat allergies: he does spend time indoors on occasion in the winter, but we clean regularly and try hard to keep the house cat hair-free!
