Welcome to the Bear Den on beautiful Lake Bernard! Enjoy your own piece of paradise at our newly renovated lakefront cottage just 2.5 hours north of Toronto. Shallow, sandy bottom lake access is great for families. Lake Bernard is the largest freshwater lake in the world without an island! Ideal location, only a 3 minute drive to the town of Sundridge. We hope to offer a 5-star experience for our guests and look forward to hosting you! The space If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway year round, look no further. Our family friendly cottage has everything you’ll need for your stay. Enjoy the bright, open concept living space with picturesque views of Lake Bernard. Our cottage has 3 bedrooms in the main cottage, 1.5 bath and a fully equipped kitchen, open concept living/dining area, and laundry. A large bunkie with a queen bed and are also available during the summer by request. During the summer guests can enjoy everything cottage country has to offer. Enjoy your days on the lake fishing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, floating on the lily pad foam mat or lounging on the dock. Direct shallow entry lake access is ideal for families with children. Lots of swimming space off of the end of the dock (water is 2ft deep). There are weeds to the left of the dock but we have a nice clear “runway” for a great swimming/playing area directly from our dock. You can walk out approx 40 metres until it drops off to deeper water. In the evening, guest can enjoy lakeside bonfires under the stars. During the winter cozy up on the couch in front of the warm gas fireplace and enjoy the stunning views of the snow covered lake. Ice fishing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling are popular winter activities on Lake Bernard. Walk directly from the cottage onto the lake for ice fishing & snowshoeing. Plenty of driveway space to park snowmobiles with access to sled on the lake just one minute down the road. Plenty of hiking trails to explore nearby. Guest access •A canoe, paddle board, adult sit on kayak, child sit on kayak, floating foam mat, backyard games, kids water table and sandbox and adult life jackets are provided for guests. We suggest guests bring child life vests to ensure proper fit. •Gas BBQ •Fire pit •The bunkie is available by request during the summer months. Linens not provided. •The cottage has unlimited internet and an office nook in the loft. The cottage doesn’t have cable tv, but guests are welcome to sign into their own Netflix or Amazon accounts on our Smart TV. •Board games, puzzles and cards are available for guests. •Self check-in with a smart lock & personalized passcode. •All outdoor furniture/toys are seasonal. The dock is removed by October 1st and put back in the water at the end of May. •The garage is off limits and is not for guest use. •We allow up to 2 well behaved dogs for an additional pet fee by request. Other things to note •Coffee machine & starter supply of coffee pods provided. •Outdoor beach towels are not provided. Hand towels for kitchen and bathrooms are provided. 4 bath towels are provided. Please bring additional bath towels if you have more than 4 guests staying. •Bed linens & pillows provided for all beds inside the cottage. Please bring additional blankets for upstairs bedrooms in the winter. Linens and pillows not provided for bunkie. • Guests will be provided with a limited starter amount of basic supplies including dish soap, dishwasher tabs, paper towel, toilet paper, tissues, cleaning products and laundry pods. Guests will be required to provide their own supplies once the initial supply is used up. •Well behaved dogs allowed by request for an extra fee •The fireplace is turned off during the summer months. •Our cottage does not have central air conditioning. We have 2 window air conditioning units and fans for guest use. •There is a train track located directly across the main road in front of our cottage. It goes by approximately 2-3 times during a 24 hour period. You may be able to hear the train horn in the upstairs bedroom if the windows are left open at night. • Generac generator in the event of a power outage.
