Wine Down Cottage

Luxury self-catering cottage for a couple with a breath taking view over the Riverton farm dam. Includes a separate 'work from home' office, unlimited WiFi, Bluetooth speakers, DSTV, in & outdoor showers, in & outdoor BBQ (braai) with wood provided. Kayak available. The accommodation is private and NOT shared. The space Ideally located on Riverton thoroughbred horse stud farm near the top wine estates and restaurants in our area. The bedroom has a bespoke leather king which will ensure a peaceful sleep as you are cocooned in the Simon Baker hypoallergenic microfiber duvet designed to keep you at the optimal temperature. You have the choice of a hypo-allergenic firm bamboo pillow or a softer microfiber pillow. The kitchen is equipped with a healthy Air Fryer oven (no conventional oven), induction hob, toaster, snackwich maker, juicer, coffee station and a microwave/griller and a fridge/freezer both in black mirror finishes. An integrated dishwasher is hidden adjacent to the double sink and a reverse osmosis unit provides pure filtered drinking water. During loadshedding the bedside lights, living room lamp and 2 outside lights will work. Unfortunately our farm pumps can't run so water trickles during loadshedding - best to pour a bath before loadshedding is scheduled or keep it in mind for a good shower. Guest access Guests are welcome to swim in the farm dam, and walk around the farm or down to the Breede river. Whilst you can admire the horses, they are wild and not tame ponies. Guests are thus not allowed to go into the horse paddocks. Other things to note Horse Foaling Season is September to mid-November! Riverton Stud is one of the few places in the world where guests may have the opportunity to see a foaling! There are no guarantees, but many of our guests have been fortunate to witness a mare give birth. Mares tend to foal between midnight and 5am. Guests are welcome to leave a mobile number for a wakeup call. Have your jacket & boots ready as it can happen within 10 minutes! Please whisper so as not to distract and upset the mare. Prior to arrival, guests can book massages in the privacy of the cottage or at the dam. Styles include: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Indian Head Massage, Reflexology, Cranio-Sacral therapies, and Sports massage. The massage style will be adjusted on the day, depending on the client’s needs. Or prior to arrival, book Leonie to do an evening wine presentation from 3 local wine producers in the comfort of Wine Down Cottage. We do not have riding horses on our farm. However, the Robertson Horse Adventures is only four farms away and you can book outrides through the vineyards and along the banks of the Breede River or wine tasting carriage rides with them.
