Barnstaple is 15 minutes away and the beautiful beaches of Westward Ho! and Saunton Sands are a 30 minute drive The space The Threshing Barn is a 2-storey cottage with 2 bedrooms (please note: the twin can only be accessed via the double bedroom). It is popular with families but also works well for couples who would like a larger living and dining area. It is one of the 6 cottages on our site and is attached to the Roundhouse and Grain Store. The cottage can sleep a total of 4 people (plus an infant in a cot). This cottage is pet friendly and we are happy to accept 1 dog. Lower Hearson Farm is a family run smallholding set in 15 acres. Guests are able to enjoy the 2 acres of gardens with lawn, stream, wooded area, small orchard, picnic benches and BBQs. We also offer the opportunity to join us for animal feeds every day so you can collect eggs, cuddle a guinea pig and feed the sheep and pigs. If you are lucky the local ducks might even pay you a visit asking for some grain. The site is a real haven for wildlife. The paddock, woodland, stream and gardens all attract different visitors including hares, pheasants, woodpeckers and swallows. As night falls you can watch the bats darting over the gardens and then enjoy a bit of star gazing in our dark skies. The fabulous golden beaches of Croyde, Putsborough, Woolacombe, Westward Ho! and the well known surfing beach Saunton Sands with its golden dunes are an easy drive away. The cottage has a private entrance straight into the open plan dining and living area. There is a dining table with seating for 4 and we can provide a high chair if requested. The living room has a 42" smart TV, electric log-effect fire, a sofa and single reclining armchair, so there is room for all guests to sit together and relax. One of the most popular features in this cottage is the large bay window which makes the living area bright and spacious (and is the perfect spot for enjoying a good book or a glass of wine). The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, microwave and electric oven and hob. The cupboards are well equipped with crockery, cutlery, glasses and pans. There is also a dishwasher and washer/dryer making this a very practical cottage for your stay. Upstairs there is a double bedroom with door to the interconnected twin room . A travel cot can be borrowed from us for free, and can be placed in the double bedroom. There is also a bathroom with shower over the bath. The games room on site has table tennis and table football. There are also toys and games to keep younger children entertained. There are buckets, spades and trucks to take to the sandpit or borrow for a beach trip. We are happy to welcome 1 well behaved, house trained dog for stays in the Threshing Barn. For everyone's safety and well-being we do have a few dog-related house rules:- Dogs must be kept on a lead when outside on site due to there being livestock in the area. All dog waste must be picked up and disposed of (bins are provided). Dogs must not be left in the cottage unsupervised. Guest access In addition to private use of the Threshing Barn guests also have shared access to a number of facilities on site. Heated outdoor swimming pool: this is available for guests to use throughout May until the end of September. Games room: table-tennis, table-football and toys for younger children Gardens: all guests have shared access to the approximately 2 acres of gardens surrounding the cottages. There are picnic benches, garden chairs and BBQs available so guests can eat or relax around the site. Car parking: guests to the Threshing Barn have use of 1 parking space in our shared parking area. Other things to note The swimming pool is open to guests throughout May to the end of September. Towels, bed linen, tea towels and a shower mat are provided (cot bedding is not provided). Use of the gardens, games room and swimming pool are all included in the price of the cottage rental. The parking space is suitable for cars, small vans and smaller transits. If you have a larger van/vehicle then please do contact us prior to booking so we can discuss the parking with you as we may be able to offer an alternative parking space.
