A comfortable room awaits you in a charming, mid-century home in Latrobe, Tasmania. A 10-minute drive from the Spirit of Tasmania Terminal. Take a leisurely 5-minute stroll to the heart of the local township of Latrobe offering a range of shops. Bird or platypus watch in the nearby Warawee Reserve that also boasts the Wild Mersey MBT Tracks. "Midnight" the cat is the resident pet. She and the host will be happy to meet you, yet allow your privacy. The space The house was originally the rectory for the Anglican church. It was 'decommissioned' and sold as a residential property nearly 15 years ago. Built in 1950, this mid-century home boasts charming ceiling roses and spacious rooms. The house is clean, inviting and homely, and the decor is best described as Scandinavian-eclectic filled with charming crockery and pieces collected from two trips to Denmark. There are inviting spaces to sit and read and put your feet up. A lovingly-tended garden features King's Creek as its northern boundary. The back garden was developed from a blank palette to a garden of enchanting spaces with predominantly European trees, shrubs, roses, cottage flowers and an orchard. Two chickens spend their day foraging about in an open, picket-fenced space. There are five arbours with climbing roses and espaliered pear trees, beautifying the space and creating garden rooms. The garden has recently been part of an open-garden scheme welcoming all, especially guests to savour and enjoy! Wile away some time in the hammock under the shady foliage of Beech, Manchurian Pear and Evergreen Alder Trees. There is an outdoor setting in the back garden for guests to enjoy a take-away meal, or perhaps a freshly brewed coffee with a sweet treat from one of the town's bakeries... Breakfast, lunches and dinners are available in local eateries, only a 5-minute walk away. Guest access Guests will have access to their bedroom, a separate and private bathroom and a part of the kitchen to make complimentary hot drinks. The study adjoining the kitchen has a quiet, cosy nook for reading and relaxing which guests are invited to use. Guests are welcome to use the dining table when the house is unattended by the host. Guests are asked to use headphones should they like to listen to music or other entertainment such as watching a pre-downloaded movie on their own devices. During your stay Interaction with guests is minimal to allow you a quiet space and privacy. If I am at home, please ask questions as they arise.
