With walks from the doorstep, peaceful surroundings and private dining available by arrangement, it's an easy place to switch off and make the most of your time away. The space An elegant countryside retreat set in the heart of the Surrey Hills, The Barn offers a peaceful escape with an abundance of things to see and do right on the doorstep. Walk straight into the breathtaking Devil’s Punchbowl, explore the Sculpture Park, Thursley Nature Reserve or Hankley Common, or spend relaxed afternoons at Frensham Ponds or Alice Holt Forest. For a change of pace, the nearby market towns of Farnham, Godalming and Haslemere offer independent shops, cafés and a quintessentially English feel, while Guildford and Petersfield are within easy reach for something a little larger. The coast at West Wittering and the historic city of Chichester are also just an hour away, making for an easy day trip. The Barn is also ideally located for several of the area’s most sought-after wedding venues, as well as trips to Goodwood and the New Forest—perfect for extending your stay or planning a wider getaway. The space The Barn is a thoughtfully designed, self-contained space offering comfort, simplicity and a sense of calm. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, it’s a place to slow down and recharge after a day of walking, sightseeing, or local celebrations. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable king-size bed, along with a queen-size sofa bed suitable for one adult or two children under 12—ideal for couples, solo travellers, or small families. If you’d like the sofa bed prepared for your stay, this can be arranged for an additional £15—please request this at the time of booking. The kitchen area includes a Nespresso machine for easy mornings, and to welcome you, a light breakfast is provided for your first day, including tea, coffee, milk and fresh pastries or bread. Outside, there is a relaxed sofa seating area—perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or unwinding in the evening after a day out. There are also several excellent country pubs within a 10-minute drive, ideal for long lunches or cosy dinners. Guest access Set apart from the main house, the Barn offers privacy. While there is no private garden, there is a comfortable seating area outside the barn and guests can step straight out to nearby walking routes, including access towards the Devil’s Punchbowl—one of the area’s most beautiful natural landmarks. Other things to note The Barn is designed for those who appreciate switching off. Mobile signal can be limited and the TV is modest, but in return you’ll find fresh country air, peaceful surroundings, and wonderfully clear night skies—ideal for stargazing. Private Dining If you'd rather spend a relaxing evening at the barn instead of driving out for dinner, we can arrange a delicious meal for you to enjoy here. From generous cheese and charcuterie sharing boards to perfectly grilled steak with black peppercorn sauce, served with Roquefort salad, walnuts and croutons or, tasty homemade burgers cooked on the BBQ and served with fries, we offer simple, high-quality dishes prepared on site using excellent ingredients. Please note that the property sits alongside a small country road, typically quiet, particularly at night. On rare occasions, traffic may increase if the nearby Hindhead Tunnel is closed.
