Peaceful vintage style cottage in rural setting.
Peaceful vintage style cottage in rural setting.
Description
One bedroom vintage style cottage in a quiet rural location. Ideal for short stay /digital detox/couples retreat. Plenty of space to park on the grounds...quiet walking trails nearby. The space The cottage is approximately 200yrs old. It was originally a two bedroom/ living room area, with a flat roof extension kitchen and bathroom being built to the rear in the 1980's. It's a small dwelling that was derelict for several years. I was well acquainted with the previous owners when I was growing up. I wanted to give the cottage a new lease of life and have been renovating it slowly in recent years. I merged the smaller bedroom into the living room area in order to make optimal use of the space however the day bed pulls out into two single beds. I have always preferred vintage decor and most of the cottage is recycled. I sourced doors and furniture from various salvage yards around the country, including the ship port holes in the porch (which was built in 2013) . Some pieces of furniture I have upcycled myself. Obviously there had to be some modernisation in terms of heating, flooring, windows and a new roof required for the extension. Otherwise it's a simple basic dwelling but makes for a peaceful home to relax and potter about in when I am not working. I have installed a spa bath in the bathroom, albeit a slow filling one, for a bit of vintage glamour and relaxation. Other things to note It is important that guests are aware that there is no WiFi or TV in the cottage. I endeavour to provide a peaceful place to stay as well as an economical one. I use my mobile data when I'm staying here and it's suffice. I could not guarantee however that it would be sufficient for remote workers.
