The Minimalist Cabin with Rapidsview in Almonte

Get away from it all when you stay in the Minimalist log cabin and enjoy the everlasting music of Mississippi river rapids. Embrace Nature, and maybe Nature will embrace you. Perfect place for two or for one who are/is looking for a place to be present or to contemplate the meaning of their existence. The space This is a very tiny 3 season rustic log cabin with a nice view and sounds of Mississippi river rapids. It has very minimal amenities, so you will need to bring things you would normally want for camping outdoors, except the bedlinens, soap, paper towel, and toilet paper, which will be provided. The cabin has a double bed. The cabin is next to our main house (about 30 meters) but has lots of privacy because of mature trees around. It has power outlets but no running water. A waterless composting toilet with handwashing station is about 30 meters from the cabin. Guest access There is a small trail below the cabin with access to the river. Please note that the terrain there is a bit rugged, and you will need hiking shoes. The banks of the river are very precipitous and rough at this place, but in reward, you will get a stunning view, especially at sunset, which you can enjoy on a small bench overlooking the Mississippi River rapids. This is a perfect place for meditation. The river is shallow with fast currents but still swimmable in summer. You will need swimshoes because the river bottom is very rocky. If you are less adventuress and prefer safer terrain, our property has direct access to Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail with a nice countryside scenery. The trail takes you to old downtown Almonte (3 kilometers from our place) where you can explore many artisan shops and nice restaurants or you may visit Blakeney village rapids park with scenic trails with waterfalls and small bridges. The unique microclimate of this place gave birth to a mini rainforest. Mill of Kintail is another hidden gem of Lanark county highly recommended to visit. Other things to note Note that it is a very simple tiny cabin with limited amenities. It has power but no running water. You will be immersed in nature. You will hear the sound of water throughout your stay. Birds will sing you a capellas, and if you sit still and quiet on a bench overlooking the river or in the chair near the cabin, you may see lots of wildlife. Please also note that although the cabin is secluded, it is still in rural residential area, therefore no excessive noise is permitted, especially after 10 pm. Be also mindful of wildlife, which is abundant in our area.
