Historic cottage with stunning mountain views
Description
Welcome to Rose Cottage in picturesque Albemarle County, where you'll enjoy expansive 360-degree views of the mountains surrounding historic Cove Lawn Farm. Relax in the tranquil rural setting or stroll more than two miles of comfortable walking paths that wind through 25 acres of stream-lined hayfields. From Rose Cottage, you're just minutes from the best local cideries, distilleries, and wineries including Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards. Easy 20-minute drive to UVa and 22 minutes to Monticello. The space Inside, you’ll find a lovingly restored home that perfectly blends the historic charm of an eighteenth-century cottage with all the modern conveniences that make your time away unforgettable. Designed and furnished by a local architect, the interiors are modern and uncluttered, with hints of mid-century style. Natural wood tones and textures add warmth to the interiors, and the comfortable furnishings are complemented by antiques and vintage decor which showcase the agricultural legacy of Cove Lawn and the Covesville apple industry. As you enter, you’re pleasantly surprised by the high ceilings and hand-hewn oak beams of the original one-room structure. It’s a delightful, bright space to gather for coffee, drinks, or good conversation. The all-new kitchen is spacious (especially for an old farm cottage), thoughtfully equipped, and perfect for all your cooking needs. You’ll have modern appliances, quartz countertops, and all the pantry staples you expect. The adjacent dining area is furnished with a modern farmhouse table and comfortably seats five guests. Do you need to work a bit while you’re away? Take advantage of the large automatic sit-to-stand desk situated by a cheery window with gorgeous views of the tree-covered mountains beyond. In the office, you’re also free to play the console piano. Yep, it’s tuned regularly. Guest access You’ll have the entire cottage to yourself, with easy-to-use keypad access. The cottage is near the main house, but you’ll have plenty of privacy. (Our family comes and goes through the rear of our house, and we use a separate driveway.) The good news is—if you do need anything during your stay, we’re only a few moments away. You’re free to enjoy the entire property of course. Enjoy a quiet walk (the walking paths offer amazing vistas around every corner) or spread a blanket and relish some time away. Other things to note We're fortunate to have fiber internet service, so whether you're working or playing you'll enjoy outstanding bandwidth. Smart TVs are located in the first floor bedroom and in the hang-out room upstairs. Both have Hulu Live TV included--with all the "cable" channels you might expect. If you prefer, you can log in with your favorite streaming services. The property is about 1/3 mile from US 29. You won't see the main road from the farm, but if you are outside you may occasionally hear vehicles in the distance. (We choose to hear the birds instead.) The cottage was built in several phases over a period exceeding 200 years. A portion of the upper floor is extra cozy--the "hang-out room" and the second bathroom have ceilings heights of 6'4". Very tall guests may prefer the primary bedroom suite on the first floor.
