Hucksteps is a medieval, 3 bedroom/2 bathroom house centrally located in the Citadel of Rye. Facing St Mary’s Church, the house is surrounded by cobbled streets, period architecture, literary associations, stunning coastline, and vibrant culture. Camber's sandy beaches and dunes are an easy walk/cycle/drive away. A High Street full of independent shops, restaurants, inns, art galleries, Kino cinema, Rye Spa Retreat, tea rooms are round the cobbly corner. The space First built in 1320 (later refashioned to the Tudor style), Hucksteps has been renovated to a high standard. Old and new blend tastefully together proving modern living - a fully updated kitchen, great Wifi, Sonos bluetooth sound system, smart TV, two bathrooms with a freestanding bath and a marble, walk-in rain forest shower - can exist uniquely with 12-foot-high vaulted bedroom ceilings, original exposed timber beams and an enormous inglenook fireplace. The open-beamed living room has a separate dining area with a large table that seats 6. There are delightfully wonky walls, a few low ceilings and doorways adding to the 600-year-old charm and experience of a medieval property. In a prime location, Hucksteps House has been beautifully preserved. Over the centuries it has retained its original timber beams, fireplace, and period charm, while offering modern comforts for a cosy stay - for couples looking for a unique retreat, for small groups of friends and families looking to be together exploring an ancient, historic town. Guest access Hucksteps is available for the exclusive use of up to 6 guests. You can drive up to the house to unload and load your vehicle. For parking, we always suggest two nearby, long-stay car parks. The Cattle Market car park TN31 7NA accessible via Rope Walk - £3.00 for 24 hours or the Rye Station car park (APCOA parking TN31 7AB) by the railway station which is £4.00 for 24 hours (£4.40 Sunday) or £17.20 for the week. Select location 1271 on the APCOA Connect App and you can choose your length of stay. Other things to note Hucksteps is a lovely getaway! Comfortably sleeping six guests in its three double bedrooms – one of the bedrooms features two single beds. In addition, there is an easy folding Graco travel cot for your little one (0-36 months). The modern kitchen is fully fitted with an Elica induction hob and double ovens, large Smeg fridge/freezer, additional fridge, washer/dryer, Nespresso coffee machine. (Tea and coffee are complimentary.) Small, well behaved dogs are welcome. (One pet per booking thank you.) We have a dog bed, bowls and treats. Please don't leave your dog alone in an unfamiliar house or allow them upstairs. Check in is after 4pm and check out is before 10am. Access is with the front door key which you’ll find in the lockbox. Neighbouring property has scaffolding for minor conservation/lime rendering works during weekdays only (until end of April). This sits down a small alleyway. Hucksteps House itself is ready for your stay.
