Rustle up a snack in the stylish open-plan kitchen or wander out for a bite to eat in The Anchorage pub which is about a five-minute walk away. Valley has a good fish and chip shop. On a lovely day, there is a BBQ area in the back garden in a little dell with its clawdd (welsh for an old stone bank). Kayaks and paddleboards can be hired locally to take off down the estuary. Or pack up the beach gear and head down to the golden sand at Trearddur Bay beach - home to swimmers, windsurfing lovers, sea-fishing and rock pooling. Pristine waters have earned it a Blue Flag Award. The coastal path crosses the beach so you can hike for miles. In spring, the wildflowers are overwhelming, in winter the skies are superb. The boardwalk and country lane walks take you over to the White Eagle at Rhoscolyn for lunch - enjoy the excellent food and breathtaking views. There is a beautiful organic farm and nature spot on the way with Welsh Black cattle, ponds and wildlife treats. The owner will share this with a tour for a small donation to Wales Wildlife Trust. Holyhead mountain is close by, so too South Stack lighthouse and the RSPB Elin’s Tower. Spot those famous puffins - an absolute must on the “bucket” list. The A55 is a few minutes drive to whisk you across the Island to Snowdonia in 35 minutes.
