Description

We warmly welcome you to stay in Bluebell, at the Old Railway Station, in a beautiful part of Northumberland, nestled between the coast and the hills. We provide some 'goodies', including locally made biscuits, milk, tea & coffee, to assist self-catering, as well as fresh eggs from our happy hens! The highly acclaimed Running Fox cafe & The Plough Inn are just a 5 minute drive away, in Powburn, plus a well stocked shop. There are plenty other places to eat in Alnwick and the surrounding area. The space The main shepherd's hut contains a raised double bed, with a choice of feather and foam pillows, several cushions and a comfortable deep mattress. There is some storage beneath, with additional space to leave luggage, coats and footwear in Snowdrop - the adjacent little hut. There is an attractive dresser type kitchen unit with a sink, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster and portable electric induction hob, as well as all the useful bits and pieces needed for self-catering. The bijou bathroom contains a sink, loo and standard sized shower. There is a flat-screen TV and wifi, as well a selection of games such as Scrabble. We have also included some good quality binoculars for watching wildlife, and a book about the night sky, as on a clear night the stars outside Bluebell are stunning! There's a table with two chairs inside the hut and a decking area outside, with ample sofa seating and an additional table & chairs, all with a wonderful view. A parasol is to hand for sunny days and a cast iron 'fire pit' with some firelighters and a supply of wood, for chillier nights. This area has much privacy, though the hens will probably potter along looking for snacks, or a mischievous member of our animal menagerie comes to say 'hello'! Sometimes there are sheep or cattle in the next field, and deer flit by occasionally. Barn owls and other interesting birds are often visible too. The cold water supply in the hut is from a countryside spring, running down from the Cheviot hills, then filtered to provide safe and pure drinking quality. Guest access Bluebell - your accommodation - plus little Snowdrop - for storage - are the only huts on site, and like the scenic decked area, are exclusively for your private use during your stay. You are very welcome to meet our many outdoor animals, and we just ask that you follow the instructions about keeping gates shut, and please ask before coming through to where the piggies & goats are. The donkeys & horses are very nearby and enjoy attention, if you choose to stroke them, though please be careful. You may park your vehicle right next to Bluebell, or elsewhere where on our site, if that is preferable as you come and go. Other things to note We provide a folder of information (on the shelf in Bluebell) about local attractions and recommended places to eat. Please let us know if you would like any further details about the local area. Do also let us know if there's anything else we can provide for use during your stay, or if you have forgotten to bring something, as we may be able to provide it!
