Allow me to resume my eco-friendly property and afterwards, a bit of myself and the property’s history. THE PROPERTY: My family’s totally “brought back to life” farmhouse/villa has traditional Southern Portuguese-inspired architecture and interior decoration mostly made by local craftsmen. Its indoor areas, with 3 bedrooms and very comfortable beds, a living room and a fully equipped kitchen, invite you to relax and enjoy the coolness of the AC units during Summer or the warm they also provide along with the fireplace you can use and the heated floorings (turned on during Winter). Let yourself embrace you into a cosy overall atmosphere and take the chance to stroll in full privacy in our 2-hectar property (just for you). To nurture the gardens of native and very robust plants, all rain and plumb waters are recycled, since water is very scarce in the Algarve. Enjoy the 2 (non-heated) plunge pools (one of which supported with an exterior bathroom), the sound of singing birds, breath-taking views, a hammock and lounge chairs, the property’s hideaway corners. And, of course, the cherry on top, which is the company of our lovely animals! They are several chickens (which will offer you fresh organic eggs) and our boy cat (called Moisés). They are all properly educated not to go indoors and taken care of by a neighbour who doesn’t need to enter the property to do so but, since it’s very easy and also much fun for your family, if you want, you can take care of (feed) the animals yourself during you vacation – we can happily teach you how to do it! Prepare to embrace yourself and your friends or your family to a once-on-a lifetime holiday, close to everything but away from it all and to return again and perhaps again, again. ITS HISTORY: In collaboration with the architect Sérgio Rebelo, I’ve created this space from an old ruin, bringing it back to life with three main ideas in mind: respect for nature, architectural heritage preservation and a space of true relaxation. Whilst in a quiet place, you don't need to get isolated from the world as the villa has working areas, great Wi-Fi quality (with the plus of a portable router), Smart TV with satellite channels and a fantastic Bluetooth speaker available. I’ve put my hands on the job studying how all or most water could be saved as it is quickly getting more and more scarce in the Algarve and the result is that my villa recycles all water used for washing as it gets reabsorbed by the land in the garden. All products used in the farmhouse are organic, such as shampoos, soaps and detergents and it is making my garden grow lush and self-sufficient as also all rain water is stored for the garden as well and preserved in water tanks I have from the rooftop terrace (we call "açoteia") to ponds spread along the 2-hectares farm you can and should explore. The villa has some gentle companions: one super kind and very quiet old lady pig and my chicken, that will offer you pure “organic” eggs that you are free to take daily. Guna, my nice guardian lady dog who won't go inside and loves being pet and Moisés, my shy boy cat you might not even see. Feel free also to pick-up some fruits from my trees once they are ready for picking through the year! The beautiful traditional architecture of the Algarve has been preserved and most materials used were products from local craftsmen, like the beautiful clay tiles called “tijoleira de Santa Catarina“ used to pave outside areas and the traditional indoor flooring, called “pavimento hidráulico”, all hand-made. Most of the light on my luminous villa comes in via the double-glazed windows whose frames are made of wood and painted in a smooth relaxing water-green colour so that from the white interior walls it can gently bond with all the green seen from the windows 360º around the villa. On the rooftop there are two small water tanks, like mini plunge pools, whose water is saved in the winter for the garden and their flooring is made out of thick glass, so both indoor bathrooms are gifted with natural light that provides them with a vibrating water effect coming in from the skies. The rooftop and ground floor plunge pools (non-heated) will help you chill on our warm days and nights and the air conditioning units, powered by solar panels will also do a bit of help, although the villa drafts well from its windows. On the Winter time, the heated floors through the entire villa, the AC and a fireplace on the living room, help to warm the villa and provide you with a nice and very comfy atmosphere. The neutral-tone and minimalistic retro-styled decoration, as well as the garden I’ve grown, full of corners and paths for you to discover, will naturally help you to relax and enjoy the many shades here and there whilst you glaze your eyes and soul with its breath-taking views, through the undulation of the green covered mountains and the ocean seen from a distance.
