The NightBNB has been designed to represent the calmness of nighttime with dark finishes throughout the space. The space Originally built in 1890, this building was home to the Skates Belting & Supply Company for generations. Following the retirement of the hardware shop’s proprietors, the building underwent a multi-year renovation, completed in 2022. The renovations were designed to provide guests with a unique and comfortable experience. Distinctive touches include a two-way mirror in the master bathroom’s shower and hanging bedroom lights that simulate stars around a suspended “cloud” on the ceiling. Understanding that guests may prefer to dine in, the DayBNB features a well-stocked chef’s kitchen with seating and place settings for eight. It is equipped with a professional-style gas range with a convection oven, dishwasher, microwave, and refrigerator offering filtered water and ice. The apartment spans approximately 1,800 square feet and includes three bedrooms, each with a queen bed. The master suite, the largest of the three, features a desk and a full bathroom with a walk-in shower. The two additional bedrooms share a hall bathroom with a tub/shower combination, dual sinks, and natural light streaming through a skylight above. One bedroom, located in the center of the apartment, has no exterior windows. Its ceiling is open to the hallway, so noise may travel to and from the kitchen and hallway areas. This bedroom does not have a locking door and is separated from the hallway by a curtain. This space shares the second floor with a mirror-image apartment, also accessed via a common entryway and staircase. The second apartment is available on Airbnb as DayBNB and is themed with white decor. Guest access Guests have dedicated access to a free parking stall located in the rear of the building. Additional free street parking is also available, in addition to paid parking lots within walking distance. There are four electric vehicle charging stalls on the street as well. Access to the apartment is through the locked entryway located on the front of the building. Once inside there is a custom-lit staircase which leads to second floor. Here you will find the front doors of the two apartments where your personal access code will allow you inside to your private apartment. Other things to note For our noise sensitive guests: Southwest Blvd is a major thoroughfare of Kansas City. It’s the place to go out and be “seen” on weekend nights. There will be traffic noise during the day and most of the night. Society, a restaurant/bar located across the alley from the apartment, operates until midnight on weeknights and 1:30 AM on Friday and Saturday nights.
