We are happy to engage as much or as little as guests prefer. Other things to note As shown in pictures, there are stairs needed to access home and bedrooms. --Restaurant/Fun Recommendations-- Restaurants of note: Polonia Cafe' - about 7 miles West from us in Polonia, AMAZING breakfasts (Country Skillet, Cinnamon roll pancakes... home made!) Crystal Pie Cafe in Iola, about 7 miles East from us, yummy pies, chicken pot pie, etc. etc. Ambrosias in Amherst about 7 miles South of us, has good pizzas, fish fry’s and we think even a buffet night. White Tail Lanes about 5 miles South of us, we know, crazy, a bowling center for food? Yes! They have the HUGE Stella burger, chicken dinners, fried cheese curds..... and ALL of these places are about same prices as normal (even some fast food) restaurants prices in Point. Central Waters Brewery also in Amherst usually has something on Friday/Saturday nights with food trucks and a band and such... Legacy Restaurant in Stevens Point, 14 miles West of us, AUTHENTIC made from scratch food, and the pies. So good! Mi Pueblo, one of our favorite authentic Mexican restaurants, also in Point/Plover. Belts ice cream, because it's a thing... personally, I pass now, but, it's a 'tradition' "it's the toppings" everyone says as they stand in line for it... Politos Pizza also in Point, LOVE their steak and fries and garlic and/or cinnamon knots. Talk about carb loading, but totally worth it!!! Mr. Brews - peanut butter burger, Natalie's FAVORITE, is in Plover Cheese Fries (not chili cheese fries, think cheese pizza, but without the sauce... it's a thing here, BEST is at Arbuckles in Point, or, buy at Walmart the "Portezi's" cheese fries, our son loves those, as do we. BEST cheese curds ever? Milwaukee Burger Company! (in Wausau - 30 min north of Point) or Appleton (50 min East of us). They also have those awesome burgers, but the cheese curds, bar none, best everrrr!!! Point Root Beer (as well as Point Beer, we don't drink, so we do root beer) either at Point Brewery in… Point (tours available), or in stores. PERSONALLY, my favorite is 1919 Root beer, available at Festival Foods in Point by the can (or, I think Ambrosias has it on tap). Hopefully this will give you a nice start. We figure, it's all about the food! You have to try all the local favorites to really have been there! --Fun!!!-- Iola has an indoor pool, fitness center, with kiddie slide etc. and very affordable. Check website for times etc. About 10 minutes East of us. 45 min North near Antigo is Wisconsin Dells of the Eau Claire River, beautiful picture taking, cascading water falls and hiking trail (not to be confused with Wisconsin Dells near Baraboo, 75 min away, water park capital of the world! They are all good, but we love Kalahari the best) Sunset Lake is just 2 miles down the street from us, nice lake with sandy beach etc. We sometimes take the kayaks with the grand kids there... Ice Age Trail... all around us. People hike portions of it for fun, it’s a thing, trying to hike the whole trail in small pieces. Amish country and stores about 45 minutes North East around Marion. In summer they have yummy baked goods, pies, chocolates, in their stores. Rudolph Cheese Factory about 40 minutes West of us (15 minutes past Point), we go there to get yummy cheese, fresh cheese curds that squeak when you chew them, and then of course they have on of those old army tanks in town (you can’t miss it), and then the Grotto, just around the corner also, beautiful place for snacking on cheese, taking family photos, and exploring the ¼ mile underground man made cave for 25 cents. And of course we have our yard, the woods and field, sandbox, and fun trails etc. In our area we have often seen bald eagles, racoons, foxes, turkeys, deer (about an hour before sundown you can see 20-60 of them in the fields on either side of the hill we live on) and sometimes a black Fischer or a white weasel looking thing. I’d say we hear coyotes sometimes in the winter and that a bear was sited wandering around Amherst… 10 years ago, but don’t want you to get nervous 😊.
