The habitation in the wider area of the Apostles seems to start from antiquity, which is confirmed by archaeological excavations that identified remnants of a settlement of the Hellenic period, south of the village. At a distance of 6km from the village there is a Health Center. Nearby places/attractions - Lytos or Lyktos, one of the most powerful sites of Hellenistic Crete mentioned by all the great ancient historians. According to sources, it was the oldest city of Crete, very organized and built and was the place where the parents of Rea sent her to give birth to Zeus. - Thrapsano, a village where clay pots are made.
