Fourth Street Octopus Lair

Welcome to our turn-of-the-century home, built in 1905. It hosts two apartments upstairs including this private-access spacious, charming one-bedroom with an open living room area and kitchen. Located less than half a mile from Platteville’s Historic Second Street, about a half mile to the nearest Roundtree Branch Trail access, and less than a mile from UW-Platteville, we are within walking distance of most of Platteville’s main attractions. The space If you love old houses, you’ll love this space! It’s got original wood trim and all the quirky charm of a turn-of-the-century home. There is one bedroom with a queen bed and the futon in the living room reclines, but really is only large enough for a small child (under 10) to fit comfortably. Guest access Your private apartment is located at the top of the stairwell, which is separate from our main home dwelling. The stairwell is the only shared space with our second Airbnb apartment. Each apartment has its own separate keypad entry. At this time, Airbnb guests ARE NOT permitted to use the walk out porch, unless in case of an emergency. Airbnb guests are also not permitted to use porches or yard for recreational purposes. Other things to note We tried to be descriptive about the setup of our home, but we have learned the hard way that we need to be a little more direct - if you are looking for a place for a romantic getaway, our home is probably NOT the place for you! In no way do we monitor what happens upstairs when you book our apartments, but our home is over a century old and the walls are thin! We have children, and we ask that you are mindful of what can be heard throughout the rest of the house if you choose to stay with us. Having said that, there’s a good chance you will hear our kids. This could include (but is not limited to) instrument practice, the joyous sounds of jumping on a trampoline, or the less-joyous sounds of bickering amongst siblings. We do our best to remind them to keep their voices and natural kid noises to a minimum when we have guests, but we want to be fully transparent so there are no surprises when you get here! They also observe quiet hours so you won’t have to worry about instruments after 9pm! We keep the apartment stocked with silverware, glasses, and dishes, but if you’d like to cook while visiting, please let us know so we can be sure you have the tools you need! Unlike many listings on Airbnb and VRBO, we do NOT charge an automatic cleaning fee. Over the past several years of hosting, we have learned that blood rarely completely comes out of bedding and towels. As a result, if blood is left on any items, we will request reimbursement so they can be replaced.
