Treetops- Spaceous Attic Suite in a 19th C. House.

Located centrally in the village of Le Ferré, Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany. Our house was built in 1847 of granite and stone. It has a large and private stone walled back garden. It is very comfortably furnished. We are in a semi-rural setting. The region is famous for cider & dairy. The oyster & mussel beds at Cancale, beaches on Emerald coast. We are 25 km from Le Mont Saint Michel, Château town of Fougères is 20 mins drive away and the walled Citadel & Port of Saint Malo is only 50 minutes away. The space 19th Century Breton house, built in the local "blue"granite, with a very spacious, open plan, attic suite. Allowing our guests to relax in their own completely private space. After entering our house via the front door, you climb the original, winding, wooden staircase up two flights, to the second floor landing and entrance to the apartment. Fully equipped Kitchen, with Island breakfast bar and Induction hob, table top combination oven, toaster, kettle, Nespresso machine, a fridge with small freezer. Large double ceramic sink for washing up. We provide basic cooking ingredients, some coffee capsules for the Nespresso machine, a selection of infusions, tea, sugar, and local honey. Fresh milk is available upon request. A private bathroom, with a large double ended bath, a walk- in shower and a toilet. The velux window looks out over the walled back garden. In late spring and summer you can watch the swifts and swallows flying above while relaxing in the bath. Toiletries, bath towels and bath robes are provided. Please note, the bathroom is fully enclosed up to the height of the beams, but, it's open higher up, to the full height of the space, up to the apex of 4.5 meters. Lounge area, has two large velux windows bringing in lots of light, again looking out over the back garden and treetops. Comfortable seating with a large corner sofa, a desk which can also be used as a dining table. WiFi (fibre) Internet and a Bluetooth speaker. Smart Philips TV, for Chromecast or use our Netflix account as a Treetops guest. **Please remember to log out of your Prime account when you leave. Bedroom area, with dormer window looking out to the front, has a comfortable Superking 1.80m size bed, with pure cotton bedding. There is a quiet ceiling fan above the bed with variable speed for those very warm nights and days. It is a great space to wake up in and gaze out into the treetops and hopefully blue skies! Blinds for the velux windows. There is also a "small double" bed for an extra adult, if required, for an additional fee of 20 € per night. ** We can accept young adults, travelling with their parents, upon request.** Closet space with coat hangers, hairdryer, iron and table top ironing board. ANY LEVEL FROM COMPLETE BEGINNER TO EXPERIENCED PLAYER. AT INDOOR COURT (5 MINUTES AWAY BY CAR) AND OUTDOOR COURT (MUNICIPAL) OPPOSITE THE HOUSE. Teaching tennis is my passion and I welcome all levels from complete beginners to competition players. I will provide racquets and balls as well as a ball machine if required. You just need sport shoes and comfortable clothing. Coaching for guests is at the discounted rate of 25€ per hour. Le Ferré is a quiet village surrounded by beautiful countryside and no light pollution! Having said that, there is plenty to see and do not far away and an amazing coastline to explore. So the best of both worlds. Eating out locally: Le Ferré's restaurant is only 5 minutes walk away. Le Saint Christophe is open daily for lunch with the exception of Sundays and feast days. 09h00 to 16h30. On Fridays it is open for lunch and dinner. 09h00 to 15h30 and 18h00 to 21h30. There is a choice of menu 2 or 3 courses. The evening menu is different from the lunch menu. Please phone for a reservation 20- 30 € per head. For fine dining- Auberge les filles en bottes, only 5 minutes away by car. Open for lunch and dinner, by reservation, Wednesday to Saturday. Serving a fresh seasonal menu of locally sourced produce, 3 courses 30-40 € More information is found in our Guidebook for restaurants further away. On Thursday evenings, there is a Wood fired Pizza van, parked across the road from our house. There is a "Depot du Pain" in the Bar/Restaurant but you have to pre order to guarantee availability. There are two boulangerie/patisseries in the town of Saint-James. Details in the Guidebook. Local open air markets: Fougères is on a Saturday morning in the old centre of the town along the Rue Nationale and down to the main square, it has everything on offer. Saint - James is on a Monday morning (Small). Pontorson is on Wednesday mornings, and Louvigné-du-Désert is on Friday mornings. Major cycling events and stages are held in the region, i.e -Tour de Bretagne -Tour de France Also the annual Bay-Man Triathlon in the unique setting of Le Mont Saint Michel. Guest access You enter our house through the front door, which you will be given a key to after checking in. If we are not here, there is a key safe for self check-in. Your private suite is on the second floor, at the top of the original winding wooden staircase. You are very welcome to use our garden, garden furniture, loungers and BBQ (which was an old cast iron cauldron). There is space for bikes under cover at the back of the house. We are happy to socialise but equally happy to leave you to enjoy your own company! During your stay My wife Dee and l live at the house all year round, so for any additional information or if there is anything you need help with, we will be available. English and a basic/improving level of French spoken. Other things to note The bakery in Le Ferré is closed, we now have a dépôt de pain only 1 minute walk away, which collects fresh bread dailey from the two bakeries in Saint-James. Opening at 07.45 until 13.30. The church bell rings out 7 am (out to work), 12.00 (lunch time), 2 pm (back to work) 7 pm (home time) it also sounds the hours and half hours (who needs a watch?) During harvest time there will be tractors coming through the village early in the morning. The attic suite has double glazed windows, and the dormer windows at the front have anti fly and mosquito net. We have put together a guidebook and a house manual, which you will find on the coffee table (a more comprehensive one is available on the listing). There isn't any public transport in Le Ferré. Pontorson is the closest town with a railway station and bus station servicing the coast , Le Mont Saint Michel and rural tourist locations in our region.
