In town for business, family, American Legion baseball, Gardner Webb University, Tryon International Equestrian Center or just traveling through, this comfy house on an old cotton farm just minutes from downtown Shelby, is just the quiet home away from home for you. You are 6 minutes from the hospital and 7-10 from town. Gardner Webb University is approximately 10-15 minutes. Tryon International Equestrian Center is 30 minutes. The space Three bedrooms, (1 king, 1 double, 1 bunk) 1 bath, fully stocked kitchen, large living room, deck, large yard, plenty of parking, carport, basic cable-TV, Wi-Fi Guest will have access to the full house. We do not rent one room at a time. Guest access You have access to the entire house. Other things to note We accept a dog on a case-by-case basis. If we do the daily charge can be $25 per day per dog or a flat fee. It is our decision which we will charge based on the length of stay and dog. The cleaning fee is higher and we have a refundable damage deposit that will be added to your rental fee. (If you were approved and then you tell us about the dog we have the right to decline your listing.) This area does not have a leash law and dogs can be running through the yard, or even visiting the renters at Nell's Farm House. If this is a problem, please let us know. We also have our own Labrador Retrievers that visit the renters every chance they can get free to do so. We just wanted to let you know ahead of time so if there is a problem we can see if it can be worked out ahead of time. HOUSE REVIEWS We book many of our longer stay rentals privately. Our husbands really enjoyed your home. Thank you. Christmas Season What a fantastic place with fantastic owners! We spent our Christmas Holiday at Nell's Farm House as we have family nearby. The Metcalfe's were fantastic hosts as they had a Christmas Tree decorated and awaiting us. Wassail on the stove and a fresh evergreen wreath on the front door. This house is exactly as the pictures show. The house and surrounding farm so closely resembled the house I grew up in and spent 45 Christmas Seasons that my family decided to gather in Nell's living room for our gift-giving. What an outstanding stay! It was like being back at my grandparent's house again, with lots of memories. Oh and if you like special sunrises, make the coffee, open the curtain on the sliding glass door and have a seat at the kitchen table. Peer out the door and wait, it'll be there.(You can imagine it now, can't you?) Beautiful, I saw it. This is the best. House, hosts, location, surroundings, serenity, you name it. They have wood paneling in the kitchen with older style stove. The place is very neat and feels like grandma's house back in the day which was so nice and comforting. There are family photos all around and the farmland in the back is perfect. It's quiet and so peaceful. The host, Debi, is as involved or not as you want her to be or not to be and she is extremely nice and super responsive. The place is also pet friendly if you have pets to bring with you. Anything you need, she is there. The all around experience was amazing and we will visit again in the future! The house is very comfortable and quiet. I cooked several meals while there and was able to find everything I needed in the kitchen. It is well-stocked, clean, and fully operational. We looked around for Hotels close by and none of them had good reviews. It was great! Debi was very nice and genuinely excited we were coming. She welcomed us with kindness and enthusiasm.....but she was very good about giving us our space after a 9-hour car ride :) The beds were REALLY comfortable and the house was SO quiet. It was REALLY nice after spending a day with a 4-year-old. Debi moved her horses to the back pen, so every morning we would wake up, look out the back door, and see the horses. That was awesome! The area is beautiful, and the house is close to Gardner-Webb where our son goes to school. Both Debi and Harold are friendly and very accommodating. We enjoyed being able to fix our son home-cooked meals (what he misses most from home). Able to step out the door to walk in the countryside, or hop in the car to see trees changing color across the state. Will definitely be staying here whenever we visit in the future. Nice to have a fully furnished kitchen for some home-cooked meals. Harold and Debi were great hosts, as well as the family dog Maddox (who we looked forward to seeing every day!) far enough out in the country to be nice & quiet yet close enough to town to not have a long drive for errands. Very friendly and open-minded hosts who are never intrusive Excursion/restaurant suggestions helped. Idyllic, quiet location.
