Cosy walker’s retreat in The Old Mill on Dartmoor

Situated on the Two Moors Way, this is a perfect bolthole after a day exploring. This self-contained tiny annexe with private entrance is attached to a 550 year-old former Mill in the rural hamlet of Ponsworthy, 3 miles from the famous Widecombe. Kitchenette, very small shower room, extremely steep staircase ascending to cosy bedroom with seating area + Sky TV. Outdoor seating area surrounded by trees and the sound of the river. Off-street parking available nearby. Please see FULL details below. The space Outside space As it is our family home please note that there is a shared outdoor garden. We will give you as much privacy as possible but please do not expect complete privacy when outside. Other things to note Please read all of the following points before booking, thank you ☺️ 1. The annexe is small! 2. The stairs are extremely steep and not suitable for those with mobility difficulties or those who are pregnant. 3. There is no phone signal in Ponsworthy however superfast broadband is available for Wi-Fi calling. 4. The property is rural and in the countryside. Expect to hear nearby countryside sounds such as; cockerels, ponies, cows, sheep, running water from the river and plenty of tractors! Please do not book our property if you’re looking for night life and a shop across the road to pop-to! The nearest good size food shop is a 25 minute drive. 5. This property is not ideal for home working as there is no desk space and throughout the day there are the usual noises associated with a rural working family home. 6. The shower is quite low level so not ideal for tall people. There is nothing we can do about this, the house is 550 years old and listed. Sorry! 7. The parking space is a 30 second walk up the road from the property on our land. Please see photos for this and understand that we cannot accept parking directly outside the annexe. Some guests prefer to park on the road and there are plenty of spaces available in the hamlet either by the phone box or by the ford. 8. The stove in the bedroom is an electric heater, unfortunately there is no chimney in the annexe. Central heating is also available. 9. Smoking/vaping is not permitted in or near the property. Please go out of the gate and down the road to do this. 10. The patio garden is exclusively for guest use however we may walk through at times. We will give you as much privacy as possible. 11. Electric car charging is not available. 12. This is not an ideal location for guests who do not have their own transport, there are no buses and taxi’s are rare.
