Stunning dog-friendly barn conversion in Mid Wales

Description

Welcome to Penrhyllan, situated in a tranquil country location near the historic market town of Llanidloes, Mid Wales. This modern, open plan 1-bed self-catering barn conversion sleeps up to 4 people and has wonderful oak beams and great views of the valley and mountains. We welcome all people and well-behaved dogs to relax and unwind in this beautiful part of the world. Come and discover our spacious fields, spectacular views across the valley, stunning sunsets and amazing night skies. The space Penrhyllan (this cottage), Y Beudy (the neighbouring 2-bed cottage) and the main farmhouse (the owner’s private residence) all date back to the 1700s. There is one double bedroom, with a double sofa-bed in the lounge if required. The double room features a double bed, a chest of drawers, two bedside tables, and a wardrobe. The bedroom has amazing views of the mountains which can be enjoyed with your morning brew in bed. In the hall, there is additional space to hang coats and keep shoes and muddy boots. There are hard floors throughout the living areas. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle and everything you need to meet most culinary requirements. The bathroom has a spacious shower cubicle, heated towel rail, and built-in cupboards with a sink and WC. The large open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner features oak beams, a sofa bed, a TV, a DVD player and a Sky Q box with Netflix and sports. Situated in the heart of Mid Wales, Penrhyllan is a great base from which to explore the borderlands of England and Wales, an area of pretty countryside and charming market towns. There is plenty to see and do in the area, with beaches an hour’s scenic drive away, many areas of outstanding natural beauty surrounding us and numerous lovely walks and woodland areas to explore. There are numerous walks right on our doorstep. We’re located within easy travelling distance of Hafren Forest, Clywedog Reservoir, Elan Valley, and multiple nature reserves. Machynlleth, Rhayader and Builth Wells are all within driving distance, as are the Shropshire Hills to the East. Locally there is also access to golf, clay pigeon shooting, simulated game shooting, driven game shooting (during the season), cycling, and horse riding. Our nearest town, Llanidloes, was voted one of the most desirable places to live in Wales. It is a lovely small Welsh market town with a friendly community. There are some lovely cafes, dog-friendly pubs, Chinese, Indian and fish and chip takeaways, a local Co-Op, butchers, greengrocers, and independent shops. Guest access Penrhyllan is situated in a beautiful valley at the top of a secluded lane. We will send you detailed directions once you have booked. During your stay, you’ll have exclusive use of the entire cottage. Out front, there is safe, ample parking, which is shared with our 2-bed cottage, Y Beudy. You will also have shared use of the outdoor seating and patio area, cycle store and barbecue. Well-behaved, toilet-trained dogs are allowed in the cottage. There is also a kennel available on request. Other things to note The cottage is self-contained and has the advantage of the owners living on-site should you need anything during your stay. We have tried to think of everything you might need, but if you find something missing, please let us know. Central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wifi are all included. You are welcome to wander the 15 acres of private grounds, at your leisure. The grounds feature a mix of woodland, grassland and cover crops (depending on the season) and are often used for gundog training with mown strips for retrieving, height-adjustable log jumps into the woods and a fixed jumping pen in the field. There is also a pond in the main field for water work. Private one-to-one gundog training sessions with Collette May of Completely Gundogs can also be booked during your stay. Please note that there is livestock in the surrounding fields. A car is essential. You will have access to safe, ample parking. The lane to the property is steep in parts, and while perfectly driveable 99.9% of the time, on occasion, particularly during the winter months, it can become wet and icy, and extra caution is advised. The nearest village of Llanidloes is 5 miles away. The nearest town of Newtown is 11 miles away. The nearest beach is Aberdovey around 40 miles away. Snowdonia National Park, 54 miles away. Brecon Beacons, 59 miles away Cambrian Mountains, 10 miles away Source of the River Severn at Hafren Forest, 12 miles away. Although Wales is renowned to have a lot of rain, we do of course have gorgeous sunny days too!
