Description
We would love to welcome you to stay in our little cabin by the river, a renovated barn privately situated away from the main farm house and other structures. Nothing fancy but bare basics bunking & dining. You will be warmly greeted to come stay, play and sit a spell. You'll encounter friendly chickens, turkeys, two rescue mules, our 2 dogs, a few cats and a family of goats. After a sleep by the river, you'll have a wake up call in the morning with crowing roosters before you start your day. The space This cozy cabin is a renovated barn with great energy. The rooms are small but comfortable and practical, furnished with reclaimed materials, second hand rose finds, and gifted hand me downs. The main central heating is a wood stove - wood is provided, and electric heat in the half bathroom. There is lots of hot & cold water perfect for washing and cooking, we recommend you use the potable water provided for drinking. The farm is well maintained and has many quiet spots to sit relax and regroup. There are also wooded areas on the farm with a trail to a little island which is part of the property. The cabin sits on the bank of the Medway River and is a perfect spot to unwind, swim or paddle. The river is home to ducks, otters, beavers, turtles, lily pads and many other species of wild life. Our two friendly and very nosey mules Remi & Stella share the acreage where the cabin is and they love knowing folks are staying and may come to to the cabin door looking for a treat. Sometimes when swimming or paddling you may have curious mules hanging out watching you. Too, our goofy Toby may drop by for a visit, we try to discourage him but he's so excited to see people. We encourage you to be firm with him and instruct him to 'go to the house'. We will intervene if he becomes a nuisance. Guest access There are two gates; one at the entrance of our driveway which is a locked during the owners absence. Guests will have a gate key (the gravel driveway is 1 km) The second gate is at the entrance leading down to the cabin. This gate is not locked, it is latched at all times. This ensures that Remi & Stella are not out roaming on their own. During your stay you will have full access to the cabin, the wood house and outhouse and much of the property. All other buildings on the property are Off limits unless invited by the owner. Other things to note Onsite Features Include The Little Red Stage, a second renovated barn recreated into a feel good community gathering space. Seating for 25 and large BBQ available.
