Pinus Nigra – A quiet forest room in the pines

The house has several levels and shared spaces, as we live here as well. Pinus Nigra is a private room located in the attic. The attic level includes a shared hallway and a shared bathroom, which are used by guests staying in rooms on this floor. On the ground floor, there is a shared living and dining room used for meals, resting, and gatherings, as well as a small tea kitchen where guests can prepare tea, coffee, or simple meals. The house is surrounded by a large garden and forest, creating a calm and natural setting. Some areas of the house and garden are shared, while others are private. The room is built using natural materials such as clay, straw, and reed, which create a warm, quiet atmosphere and a deep sense of calm. Guest access Guests have access to the private Pinus Nigra room located in the attic. The attic level includes a shared hallway and a shared bathroom, which are used by guests staying in rooms on this floor. On the ground floor, guests are welcome to use the shared living and dining room, a large common space used for meals, resting, and gatherings. A small tea kitchen is also available for preparing tea, coffee, or simple meals. The garden, terrace, summer kitchen, and outdoor areas are shared and available to guests, unless otherwise agreed. The main kitchen in the basement and our private bedroom are not accessible to guests. During your stay We live in the same house and are usually around during guests’ stay. We are happy to help, answer questions, or share suggestions if needed, while also fully respecting guests’ privacy and personal space. Other things to note Šumska is located right on the border of Nacionalni park Fruška gora, about 15 minutes from Novi Sad and around 1 hour and 15 minutes from Belgrade. Šumska is an eco-tourism and sustainable family homestay dedicated to nature-based hospitality. Our aim is not only to provide a place for rest, relaxation, and recreation, but also a space for creative work, shared activities, learning, and meaningful time spent together. We feel a strong personal responsibility for the protection of nature and life as a whole, and this is reflected in our everyday practices. The house is built using natural materials, we maintain an organic garden, separate grey and black water, and used household water flows into a garden pond with fish. We use a solar boiler for hot water, draw water from a well, and also collect rainwater. In addition to standard indoor bathrooms, we use composting toilets. Our food is plant-based and prepared in our home kitchen. We grow part of our food in our organic garden and source ingredients from small local producers whenever possible. Kitchen and toilet compost is reused as a resource for growing new plants. The house is heated with an efficient wood-burning stove. Depending on the season and prior agreement, Šumska can also host small group gatherings such as yoga retreats, wellness events, women’s circles, birthday celebrations, and team-building activities. We also develop and host our own programs, including plant-based cooking workshops and guided forest walks, ranging from short walks to multi-day nature experiences. This is a living, evolving household rather than a conventional hotel, and we welcome guests who appreciate simplicity, sustainability, and a respectful relationship with nature.
