Description

The Wild Turkey Inn is set in a Victorian heritage home, built in 1896, during the time of Rossland’s famous Gold Rush. Our little inn, three blocks from downtown, has up to three guest rooms, each with its own ensuite. When you book "Two Rooms at the Turkey" you choose your two rooms and have exclusive use of the entire inn (guest kitchen, dining room, laundry, sitting areas). We are ten minutes to Red Mountain, so you can easily enjoy the town and ski the resort. The space We only ever take one booking at a time, so two rooms, as well as all the other guest spaces (kitchen, dining room, laundry room, lounge areas) are yours to enjoy! Our listings include: - The Happy Valley Guest Room - The Seven Summits Guest Room - The Old Glory Guest Room - The Wild Turkey Inn: Three Rooms at the Turkey - The Wild Turkey Inn: Two Rooms at the Turkey Our living quarters are completely separated, so you can expect a private and contactless experience. We are, of course, readily available by text, phone, or email to answer any questions you have. In 1890, gold was discovered in the Red Mountain district of the West Kootenays, and the town of Rossland emerged. The Bank of Montreal joined the rush, and J.S.C. Fraser, relative of Simon Fraser, was the first bank manager. Our house was built for him, in approximately 1896, using the finest materials available at the time. The soft fir floors and intricate crown mouldings, door casings, and archways are sights to behold. Our name… The Wild Turkey Inn, is truly locally inspired. When we first visited the property in late winter of 2018, we found the trees around the house filled with wild turkeys. We fell in love with them right away and feel they capture the same spirit of adventure and good humour that we hope to evoke here at our inn. Guest access We only ever take one booking at a time, so two rooms, as well as all the other guest spaces (kitchen, dining room, laundry room, lounge areas) are yours to enjoy! Our living quarters are in the back and we have a separate entrance. We can easily accommodate special events like family reunions, friend getaway weekends, bike groups, relaxation retreats, business retreats, guest speakers, and more (please no parties). Let us know your intentions and we will see what we can do to further accommodate your needs. Other things to note During your stay, if you are out in the garden or while parking your car, you may come across our lovable border collie crosses, named Eevee and Marlow. They may bark somewhat energetically when they see you. They are fenced in and really just want to check you out, hoping you will pet them endlessly. We apologise in advance if their barking startles you. We also now have two cats on the property. They are named Pink and Floyd and are very friendly. Feel free to invite them in if they show up at the door! We apologize to those who are allergic. Children are welcome to stay. Please ensure you provide adequate supervision around staircases and antiques. Our rooms do not come with TV, however, there is a TV in the kitchen. As well, we offer strong complementary wifi so that you can stream to your device and check in with the digital world at your discretion. We need to make you aware that one of the reasons Red Mountain is so legendary amongst North America’s premier ski resorts is due to the incredible snowfall we receive here each winter. Be prepared to walk through snow drifts around town, and navigate the roads carefully from November to April. The snow plowers are like celebrities around here… they work so hard to keep all of our streets safe and passable. Our street is typically cleared quickly, but if you arrive during or immediately after a snow storm, please take care while driving. Winter tires are required on highways in this region from October 1 to April 30. Each of the three guest rooms is set up for double occupancy. Each additional guest will be charged a $35 fee and these extra guests should be comfortable sleeping on a small cot or twin sized foam mattress. Using these will make for tight quarters!
