A grill and griddle, along with Adirondack chairs to enjoy meals, are included. It all sits on an old Christmas Tree farm, reclaimed by nature over the years. As the old Christmas trees fall we leave them and it has helped introduce more wildlife. The area also has a growing, peaceful Amish community. You may hear the sounds of carriages rolling by, and you can even go say hi and enjoy fresh donuts and pastries on Saturdays during the summer. We can provide directions if you want to go. The house itself is a cozy renovated cabin, converted into a beautiful modern tiny home. Other things to note Important considerations before booking: Cell signal and WiFi: Please note: the NEK has very limited cell service. We have Starlink and you can use wifi calling while on the property. Entertainment: While most guests come with an adventure in mind, we do offer a smart TV. Smart TV Options: Smart TV and digital antenna (the antenna provides basic TV with approx. 20 channels). We also have a set of old school games (Cards, Chess, Checker, Jenga, dominos) you can play and always recommend bringing that book you want to read. Using our Wood Fired Sauna: Shortly after booking we will send a message regarding our sauna. We do not permit guests to use the sauna until they review and confirm that they have read the terms and conditions to use it. There is no extra charge to use the sauna. Forrest Life: The NEK is a wild place and you can see birds, deer, moose, and all sorts of wildlife. We also have typical insects for the region. We provide some sprays including natural options if needed during your stay. Pro Tip: We have found that if you have lights at night it can attract insects to the windows and door. So, think about the cabin like you would a tent to minimize insects getting in by shutting off lights inside and/or use the AC and keep the windows closed. Remote Location: We are located on Vermont backcountry dirt roads (they are maintained), but take the proper precautions when traveling so use our recommended link for directions. Being remote is a beautiful thing, but it does mean you have to prepare a bit. We are 15 to 20 minutes from towns with shopping and convenience stores. If you don't see the item listed in our profile, we don't provide it so plan accordingly for the best experience. The weather can also change very rapidly and that can affect driving conditions. We have a two-wheel drive mini van and we manage in all sorts of weather, but we are experieced Vermont drivers. So, good transportation is important to consider. Important note for guests booking in late March- early May (or around that time) - Vermont has something they call the 5th Season aka. Mud Season. This is the time of year when the ground thaws and the road and ground can be very very muddy. We recommend you have AWD or experience traveling on very muddy roads. We care about your expectations and experience: While most folks that would choose our place understand these types of normal concerns and we want to make sure you are prepared, so just take these items into consideration as you make your choice. We hope you will stay at our little house in the woods!
