Description

A wonderful little miner’s cottage located in the village of Llanhilleth in Blaenau Gwent. It's just a couple of minutes off the A467 bypass (A467 is NOT 20mph from M4 J28). Great for visiting the local tourists attractions, such as the UNESCO Blaenavon World Heritage center, the Brecon Beacons, castles, roman ruins and St. Fagans. Fast road to the M4 if visiting the coast. Dogs are welcome. Free on street parking and the local valley train to Cardiff Central Station just 6 mins walk away. The space The property was refurbished in 2022 and is a double fronted miners cottage in the little village of Llanhilleth. It is situated between Crumlin and Abertillary, which is steeped in mining history. The interior has been renovated to a high standard and furnished to give a homely atmosphere. The downstairs benefits from an open plan style and there is both a single and double bedroom on the 1st floor. If required, the single futon chair bed in the lounge converts to a 4th bed. Great views across the valley can be found from the front garden. Please note that the house is in the valley and built on the side of a mountain, so there are 10 steps up to the front garden from the road. The back garden is also tiered due to how these miners cottages were built. Guest access There is a private raised patio area to the front of the house, with views across the valley. It catches the sun for most of the day and is suitable for guests to sit and relax. The back garden consists of a small level courtyard and a further grassed area (via 20 steps) is available to guests. There are terraces above on a steep climb, which are being renovated and replanted between guest stays, but are not available for guest use due to safety reasons. Other things to note # The back garden consists of steep terraces and there is a steep climb of 20 steps to the little rear grassed area, which must be used with great care. # We no longer offer an iron as part of our our amenities , due to previous guests leaving them in a dangerous state. # The small village of Llanhilleth is of mixed use with few local facilities. It is an excellent base for touring the area being in a central position of many attractions, including the Brecon Beacons. # The A467 and the local train both run parallel to the valley road and are easily accessed from Llanhilleth. This makes Cardiff, Newport and south wales attractions very accessible.
