Disconnect from the hectic city life and enjoy being immersed in the trees when you stay here at Mountain in the Mist homestead! Power up with solar energy harvested from the sun and quench your thirst with fresh water collected from the sky in this off-grid yurt. Wander the property and interact with the curious critters, smell the blooming flowers, participate in a fun experience to boost your self-reliance, or make a short trip out to explore the town of Eugene or the stunning Oregon coast! The space The yurt is situated at the edge of the forest on our 20 acre homestead. The property is half woodland and half pasture, with a variety of livestock being raised including chickens, alpaca, sheep, bees, and rabbits. There are multiple orchards and garden spaces for you to enjoy as well as plenty of room on the grass for your furry friends to run around. We live on this property full-time in a home that is separate from the yurt. The yurt space contains everything you'll need for a week away-- with a queen sized memory foam bed with electric heat pad, a wood-fired stove for heating the space as well as cooking, a bookshelf full of books and games, a kitchenette with a convection oven and access to a refrigerator, and a dining area with views overlooking the orchards and looking up to the hills! The wood-fired steam sauna is just a short walk up the path from the yurt and provides you the opportunity to relax in the heat and recharge with a cool outdoor shower afterwards. The outhouse is located a few hundred feet beyond the sauna, among the trees at the top of the driveway, and offers a most unique place to sit and think! Guest access Guests will have full access to the yurt and the fully-fenced pasture it is in. Guests are also free to sauna as they please and to wander around the homestead to explore and enjoy. We are developing a trail system for guests to adventure through the forest as well. Please do not enter any pastures with livestock in them or feed any livestock without permission! Other things to note We offer a variety of hands-on homesteading experiences including farm tours, an introduction to beekeeping, food preservation and processing workshops, and mushroom foraging adventures. We additionally sell homemade products and produce fresh from our homestead as available, as well as provide a farm-to-table dinner and breakfast options for our guests! High speed internet is available on the property and the nearest cellular service can be found 6 miles down the road.
