The Lily Pad: Glamping with Sauna & Cold Plunge
The Lily Pad: Glamping with Sauna & Cold Plunge
Description
Enjoy our Blue Ridge Bohemian glamping retreat for a rustic but cozy night out. Perched next to our duck pond, the tent is serenaded by our frogs on summer nights and nestled near a black walnut grove. Only available on Thursday nights during the summer. We recommend checking in, walking over to JuneBug's Creek Lounge for live music and food truck fare, and winding down with a suana and cold plunge. The outdoor shower is the best. The space Our beautiful eight acres began as a tobacco and dairy farm in 1880. For the four years, we have been lovingly restoring the land to native habitat for all creatures to enjoy. The Lily Pad started as our honeymoon suite, and now it is our favorite retreat on the farm. We hope our guests relax and return home feeling cared for and refreshed. Feel free to roam the farm while you are here. You will meet friendly goats, sheep, chickens, and a barn cat. Several ducks patrol the farm and provide much entertainment. Birds chirp in the morning. The nightly symphony changes seasonally. Inside the tent, you’ll find a very comfy full size bed, sling back leather chair, bookcase with a few of our favorite titles, and authentic cowhide rug. Nightly illumination is via portable solar lanterns. The tent deck is a great place to stay a while. Watch the ducks, consider the moon, or step down onto a boulder and warm your hands by the fire. Turn on the twinkle lights. Actually grill a cheese sandwich. On chilly nights, the wood-burning stove will keep you warm and cast a wonderful flickering light. If you have never started a fire for warmth, this is your chance! We usually start the fire an hour before we turn in, get up once to add wood, and restart it in the morning to boil water for pour-over coffee and tea. As a glamping guest, you enjoy complimentary access to our sauna. The stove came from Finland, and the water comes from our very own spring. The sauna is great therapy after a long day of hiking, biking, paddling, gallery-hopping, beer tasting or wedding going. For cooking, we provide a fire pit with grill top, cast iron skillet, and basic utensils like tongs. Plates, bowls, cutlery, cups, mugs, are ready to go. There is a basin and dry rack for dish washing. A unique outhouse is just steps away from the tent. The outhouse is a replica of a scenic one-holer from Power Creek outside Condova, Alaska. Finishing touches include a crescent moon carved into the door and custom toilet seat art you will have to see to believe. Guest access There are two large open pastures for stargazing or frisbee tossing. Dart board in the barn. Other things to note There is an extension cord running to the tent to power up essentials. There is a mini fridge and outlet in the sauna area.
