The space This spacious house of character features an equipped kitchen-dining room with two large tables (a large kitchen table for meal preparation, which can also be used as a dining table for 6 people, and a large family table for 10 people), large new SMEG stove, large new fridge, etc.), plus a pantry(cold room for storing fresh produce). Comprising large and small bedrooms, the house has 10 adult beds on the 1st and 2nd floors and "3rd floor"(3 double rooms, two of which can be converted into singles on request, 2 single rooms and 2 twin beds on the 3rd floor landing) and a baby's room with a vintage crib. You'll find a bathroom upstairs, a shower room on the ground floor and two separate toilets. The shower room comprises a washing machine and a sink and the checkroom is also at your disposal for ironing, clothesline, etc. The lounge-library, adjacent to the kitchen-dining room, is the place for your chess games, scrabbles and reading (chess table, board games available, table/desk). A little further away, the living room opens onto the terrace, and is the ideal place to relax or share convivial moments. Other things to note For your groceries, every Thursday and Saturday you'll find all the local bearnese and basque products at the Salies market. All local shops are in the heart of Salies and a large Intermarché on the outskirts of the town. The house overlooks a large garden where you can enjoy a barbecue, take your meals under the catalpa trees in the shade, have a tea or coffee under the wisteria of the old stone terrace, or relax on the deckchairs. The stone courtyard features a "homemade" covered ping-pong table. Below, the view looks out over a small orchard and a large meadow. Salies-de-Bearn comprises several tennis courts, two frontons (Saint-Martin and Mosqueros) for playing "pala" (a typical Béarnese game) or "pelote basque", a golf course (12 holes), horse-riding centers in the surrounding area and even an old casino. In summer, you can go swimming or kayaking in the Gave d'Oloron river, which takes its source in the Pyrenees (for example the area around Sauveterre-de-Béarn, a 10-minute drive away, where you'll find wild spots in complete tranquillity), or at the sandy beach of the Laas by the Chateau, less than 20 minutes away by car, etc. The house is only a 45-minute drive from the Basque coast and the great beaches of the Landes. You'll also find the large municipal open-air swimming pool on the heights of Salies (with 3 pools) and, of course, its historic spa (renowned for its health treatments with salt from the Saleys river and its wellness sessions). Walks in Béarn, the Basque country and unique panoramic hikes in the heart of the Pyrenees are less than an hour away by car. Last but not least, San Sebastián's tapas pinxos are just 1.5 hours away for a Spanish day trip!
