Relax in peace, privacy and nature before venturing out to experience the Driftless Region. We are only minutes from visiting the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, skiing at Mt La Crosse, fishing the Mississippi, hiking the bluffs, checking out Amish goods, and exploring close by cities and towns such as La Crosse, Stoddard, Coon Valley, Westby, Viroqua and others. The space The studio, in the lower level of our home, was built as a walk-out with large windows, more like a first floor apartment than a basement space. To enter, guests walk down outdoor steps to a rustic and secluded under-deck patio area with a great view of the nearby woods. The patio entrance opens to the studio’s large 14x20 foot living room/bedroom combination. A generous-sized desk sits on the outside wall and a cozy dining set for two is across the room. Guests walk through the doorway by the dining set to access the closet, galley kitchenette and bathroom. Please note: no stovetop/oven, no garbage disposal, and no washer/dryer in the studio. To the left, upon leaving the studio, is Sasquatch Trail, marked by a yellow Sasquatch sign on a tree. Following the uneven trail downwards leads to a small rustic cabin. We are always improving the trail and cabin, calling it our ‘work in progress’ and invite guests to sit awhile on the retro outdoor chairs. The studio is comfy, functional and relaxing, with stunning outdoor views and a private patio facing the woods. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions or need something. We want your stay to be worry-free! Guest access *Parking for one-two vehicles on driveway. No boat/trailer parking. *Patio area exclusively for guests. *Upper lawn areas owner-occupied, however, guests are encouraged to walk, run and bike (bring your bikes!) and enjoy our road, a part of Wisconsin’s scenic Rustic Road System. Other things to note Guests staying in the studio will likely hear some sounds and smell cooking odors from the upper floors as we go about our lives. We try to be respectful and offer ear plugs and a noise machine for sleep sensitivity; and an air purifier to counteract odors and/or allergens. Winter conditions! We live on a ridge at the top of a black-topped county road with two turnoffs from the highway to our place: one a steep/twisty incline, and the other a more gentle trek over rolling farmland. If guests are nervous about taking the steeper route, the second turnoff is a good alternative. Driving winter-safe vehicles is advised during winter months. The county plows the road past our property and we have no control over when or how much salt/sand they disperse. In snowy conditions, wind does blow across the open ridge road. We have a double driveway (two entrances) descending down from the road on either side of our mailbox, and we contract with a private company to plow for us. At times, the driveways will be snow covered. To help guests navigate, we set orange cones at the entrance to the driveway before their arrival, and also coordinate the ETA time to guide them to their parking space if needed. We keep our guests informed during snow events about road conditions and driveway plowing times to the best of our ability.
