Several acres directly on a secluded portion of Porter Lake so you can bring your boat or enjoy the local trails with your ATV in the summer. Enjoy ice fishing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing in the winter. This 1500 square foot cabin offers all the modern conveniences. Close to area hiking and mountain climbing in summer and Sugarloaf and Saddleback skiing in winter. Awesome colors of foliage changes during the fall. Optional hookup for motorhome and plenty of space for tenting. Porter Lake is small but mighty nice - it has good fishing, and excellent boating for pontoons, canoes, and kayaks. Our area of the lake is shallow with lots of lilies in the summer (so not good area for swimming or jet skis (which makes it more secluded). A long dock is put into the lake around Memorial Day and is pulled out of the lake around Labor Day. There is a public beach area very close - a short kayak or canoe paddle - or go about 1 mile on foot or 2 miles by car (Beanies Beach - Strong Public Beach - it is also the public boat launch). Porter Lake is shared by 2 towns - New Vineyard and Strong. Both towns are small with a convenience store in each town that offer gas and takeout food. Each town has snowmobile/ATV trails to enjoy. The lake is about 5 miles around and offers both summer and winter activities. Most residents of the lake are here in the summer (June thru August) - but winter (January thru Mid March) does offer ice fishing, skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Sandy River Riders ATV Club Narrow Gauge Snowmobile Club Winter rentals should have 4WD or AWD vehicles or parking at the top of drive with 1/2 mile hike down to the camp. May use ATV or snowmobiles depending on the season.
