Hot tub hideaway in Beatrix Potter’s village.

A romantic little stone Bothy with a sublimely comfortable king-sized bed, heated by a wood-burner & with a private wood-fired hot-tub directly outside. In the summer, swim in the tarn above the village & sit outside. In winter, snuggle up by the stove. Gorgeous views, dog friendly & walking distance to two good pubs and Beatrix Potter’s Hilltop. Wonderful walks & longer hikes right from the doorstep, including Moss Eccles Tarn, Esthwaite & Lake Windermere.Loads of gated off road parking.need The space PLEASE READ ALL OF THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BOOKING. Back in Georgian times, the building was used to house saddles & bridles for the horses. Now it is a rustic, charming, cosy space with a very comfortable Kingsize iron bed with luxury memory foam mattress & Egyptian cotton bedding. There are two vintage leather armchairs & a coffee table in front of the log burning stove plus a windowseat. There is also a tv with full access to Sky, Netflix, Amazon Prime. There is a tea & coffee machine, a mini fridge and a kettle plus mugs, spoons & glasses. PLEASE NOTE: There are no cooking facilities but we have two pubs in walking distance and we offer a cooked breakfast as an optional extra. PLEASE ALSO NOTE: this isn’t a hotel room. It’s a stone bothy which has been recently renovated and decorated in our own quirky style. There is no wardrobe, but we do provide some hangers and drawers. HOT TUB: It takes around 2 hours for guests to get the hot tub up to temperature by feeding the log stove and keeping the lid on. (A bit longer in winter) The hot tub has a list of rules & instructions for your own comfort & safety. We send this out in advance and you must agree and confirm you have read in advance of your stay. OUTSIDE: A wood fired hot tub just outside in its own landscaped spot & a lovely seating area with a Kadai Indian Fire Bowl- great for watching the sunset over the fells. The Lakeland views are wonderful. Enjoy the hooting of the Tawny, Barn & Little Owls, & spot rabbits, abundant bird life & squirrels in this little piece of heaven. There’s also a bistro table & two chairs, perfect for taking in the scenery with your morning coffee. Please note: WETROOM: There is a little, private wetroom with loo, sink & rainfall shower in a SEPARATE building which is attached onto the side of the main house (with its own separate door & no access to or from main house)& is a approximately 20 seconds walk away through a gate into the farmyard. Please see photos. A Wetroom is a shower room in a small space in which everything is designed to get wet. See photos. THIS SET UP WILL NOT SUIT EVERYONE SO PLEASE NOTE THIS BEFORE BOOKING. We provide towels for both the Wetroom & the hot tub and we also provide you with robes. NOT SUITABLE FOR BABIES/CHILDREN/ANYONE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES OR ANYONE TOO PRECIOUS!There are lots of great, luxurious, hotels locally. This is a rustic, ‘cabin in the woods’ type of experience. Guest access PLEASE NOTE: CHECK IN IS FROM 3PM at the earliest. CHECK OUT IS BY 10am. We work from home most of the time plus we have animals and children. We have a strict daily schedule in order to turn around the Bothy and fit in our other committments. Please respect this. . Other things to note CHECKIN: Strictly anytime after 3PM. NO BABIES OR CHILDREN- we simply aren’t set up for them- there are hazards such as woodburner, fire pits, steps and a very deep water filled hot tub. BREAKFAST: We serve breakfast in the dining room of the main house and this is at an extra cost of £15 each. We do a full Cumbrian breakfast, with hot drinks, freshly squeezed orange juice, muesli, toast etc. We also do soufflé pancakes or french toast. We can also do a fantastic vegan or vegetarian breakfast using organic produce from our kitchen garden (in season). Please book this with us in advance. HEATING SERVICE: We can heat the hot tub to temperature on request so you don’t need to- we charge £30 for this service and it must be booked well in advance. LOGS: We provide enough logs, kindling & firelighters for the hot tub woodburner, & in room logburner. If you want to use the fire bowl, you will need to provide your own logs/scrap wood for that. We don’t provide logs for this because we buy specially dried and seasoned logs locally and these are specifically for the woodburner. If you require extra logs for whatever reason during your stay, you will need to purchase these. The nearest place to buy them is the garage in Coniston 4 miles away or Hills Garage on Lake Road in Ambleside. Hawkshead Coop doesn’t usually have them. Newby Bridge garage also has them. No other kind of fuel can be used in the woodburner as it would damage it. PARKING- plentiful off road parking in the farmyard. DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON LEADS AT ALL TIMES - We do accept dogs and there is a fee of £15 per dog payable at before check-in, but please note that there are other dogs, cats and chickens on the property as well as livestock in the field adjacent to the Bothy.
