Description

Relax at this charming 18th century stone cottage in the picturesque village of Brassington - a scattering of cottages, two pubs and a church across the hillside - in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park (AONB). With original features including shuttered sash windows and two stone fireplaces each with a woodburner, Hope Cottage has retained its character so after a day exploring, it's a cosy home-from-home with vintage finds & modern comforts. The space Thick stone walls and elegant shuttered sash windows give this 18th century cottage lots of character... there's a comfortable lounge with a squashy sofa and armchairs, decorated in calm neutrals with pink & green vintage finds. Relax in front of the large woodburner (INITIAL supply of firewood for both woodburners - enough for first evening) with a glass of wine, there are board games, books & jigsaws to entertain you or catch up with a smart TV & WiFi. Share a meal with family and friends in the spacious dining room, with another woodburner plus a cosy corner to plan your next adventure with local maps and guidebooks to help! There's a farmhouse table, bench & dining chairs, two undercounter fridges (one with ice box, NOTE no large freezer available) and toaster. At the rear is the downstairs WC, back door out to enclosed garden with table & chairs, parasol and BBQ plus outhouse with washing machine and space to store bikes. The kitchen is well equipped with electric cooker, microwave and kettle plus full sets of china, glasses and enough cookware to rustle up a Sunday roast! Upstairs comprises of a single bedroom at rear, family bathroom (with over bath shower), double bedroom and twin room (this can be made up as a Superking upon request). Hand soap supplied (please bring your own shampoo, conditioner & body wash!). Review from verified guest: "We have had a wonderful week here in this lovely cottage. It is extremely comfortable and had everything we needed. I’m sure we’ll be back in the future." Guest access Guests will have entire house. Other things to note There's a rear access gate to bring bikes in to the outhouse, via side entrance of Jack's Cottage next door. The cottage is in a small village but there is some passing traffic - including regular farm vehicles (taking livestock to market etc). It is a very old cottage... wonky doors, stone floors, lots of charm but please do bring slippers for the cold floors & be prepared to wear layers, the stone walls are 3 feet thick!! Logs - an INITIAL supply is left for both woodburners but if you want to light the fires as soon as you arrive at 4pm then you'll need to bring supplies to last the whole evening.
