The space The cottage forms part of a small historic country estate in an isolated rural setting, now a 17-acre nature reserve. Over 70 species of bird live in the grounds, including swans. Views from the cottage are of open fields on one side and the Georgian stable courtyard on the other. In addition to the cottage, we can provide access to the main house gym and table tennis on request. You can also take out a boat on our small boating lake. We provide a delicious welcome basket, with fresh homemade granary bread, homemade jam with fruit from the orchards and hedgerows, muesli and biscuits- as well as milk, butter and fresh eggs from our neighbour's hens (when available). Possibility in season to receive fresh organic fruit and vegetables (where available) from the vegetable garden and orchards. There is an outdoor seating area, perfect for relaxed summer lunches, evening suppers or a glass of wine looking at the sunset. As well as a large selection of books for all ages, boardgames and Barbie dolls, Stable Cottage has a lovely fully equipped dollshouse, and a piano. Sheets are freshly laundered and ironed white 400 thread count Egyptian cotton; towels are white and fluffy, and we provide Herbal Essences and Pears bath & shower products - everything you need to relax and unwind. Stable Cottage is complete with bespoke, handmade curtains and characterful, antique and upcycled furniture. The cottage is airy and sunny in spring and summer, atmospheric in Autumn and cosy in winter, with its woodburning stoves, deep bath and range of indoor and outdoor activities. We are well located for visiting regional gems Shrewsbury (30 minutes drive) and Oswestry (17 mins), both beautiful historic towns full of Georgian and Tudor buildings, independent shops and cafes. The picturesque Welsh village of Montgomery is also well worth a visit- it has a truly splendid Medieval church and fantastic olde worlde tea rooms- as well as a vary highly recommended fine dining restaurant for special occasions. There are also multiple National Trust sites within easy reach, including Powis Castle, with its stunning collection and one of the most famous gardens of the National Trust, Attingham Park and Erdigg. We are perfectly located for lovely country walks, including via the Shropshire Way. This is truly unspoilt countryside, replete with hedgerows, ancient oaks, stunning pink, gold and lavender sunrises and sunsets, and starry nights with the faint hooting of owls as the only sound. This is the perfect spot for a refreshing country holiday for all the family, a relaxed and very peaceful break to rewind and recharge, or an activity-based walking, cycling, running trip, visiting local attractions and enjoying the splendour of Shropshire (Britain's most rural county) and Wales.
