Searching for a ski haven, summer on a beach, or autumn mountain adventures? Find it at our year-round Tahoe retreat! Enjoy all the spectacular weather, views and outdoor recreational opportunities that Lake Tahoe offers. Create lifetime memories at our Tahoe dog and child friendly home with a soul. El Dorado County requires us to have contact information on all overnight guests. We require a contract agreeing to the house rules in our Welcome Book. Welcome! Life is about the moments. We hope you'll create some at Two Morrows Tahoe Cabin. Open year-round, pet-friendly and smoke-free, our cozy but Smart Tahoe cabin sits on an open and wooded half-acre in Tahoma on the peaceful West Shore of California's legendary Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Breathing space! We have two vacant lots next to the driveway (one owned by us, and the other by our neighbor), two vacation lots (both ours) and a closed street between us and our neighbors on the other side, and a vacant lot directly behind us (owned by our back yard neighbor). Our home offers 1154 square feet of country living within walking distance of Lake Tahoe's uniquely clear blue water and pristine beaches, and a short ride to some world-famous ski resorts, several California state parks, and numerous stunning hiking trails. There is a ramp onto the front deck and one step into our single story cabin. It can accommodate a wheelchair designed to turn in a small radius, and is suitable for folks with mobility issues. The bathrooms are not roomy so it may not be possible to get a wheelchair into them. Our entire home is available except for the hall closet, one half of the back bedroom closet, a cabinet in the back bedroom, and a chest in the living room and bins on the deck that are locked. The living room has a 43 inch Smart flat-screen TV but no cable. Bring your IDs and passwords if you want to watch Netflix or Hulu etc. but remember to delete your account when you leave. We have hundreds of videos and DVDs. Really. There is a wireless Internet connection that has been upgraded to a faster speed. The sound system includes a radio, cassette player and CD player. Tapes and CDs are in the cabinet under the sound system. Our music library is mostly classical, jazz and show tunes. A chest near the front door has lots of games and puzzles. Cell phone service is spotty in Tahoma. The best reception is in the street or by the picture window in the living room. The outlet below that window has USB ports to charge your devices. There is a desk nearby for your laptop. We have had our cabin for since 1979! The neighborhood has grown up around us, but we were lucky to purchase two lots between the cabin and Oak Street (closed), and another lot next to our driveway, so while our neighbors only have a view of the house next door, we have our own private forest view from the windows. The cabin was a year old and furnished when we bought it. Only a few pieces of the original furnishings remain. We added some of our personal treasures, my Swedish grandfather's rocker in the living room and his desk in the Western room, for example. Posters in the Western room are from the years I worked for Levi Strauss in San Francisco, the black and white photography is my late husband's. The cabin is full of memories for us. Friends and relatives from around the world have joined us there, including five generations of family, and we love sharing it. We hope you will make some wonderful memories there as well! Our neighborhood is a great place from which to launch an adventure, no matter what the season. Our Cabin Manual and Guide will provide you with a multitude of suggestions of things to do on the West Shore of the Lake Tahoe and beyond! The slogan, "The Best Shore is the West Shore" says it all! The West Shore has several state parks, including some historical sites, like the Vikingsholm and The Ehrman Manson. The nearest downhill skiing, Homewood Mountain Resort, is a little over 2 miles away, and cross country tracks are accessible at the end of our street in Sugar Pine Point State Park. Chamber's Landing and Meeks Bay both have lovely beaches. The easiest way to get to the cabin is by car. Reno has the nearest airport. You can reserve a rental car there. We have a local bus service on the West Shore called TART (Tahoe Area Rapid Transit). In the summer there is also bus service south of Tahoma to the parks and the Vikingsholm. The bicycle path passes through Tahoma and continues to expand yearly. Hiking trails abound. Our kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, crock pot, coffee pot, coffee grinder, hand and stand mixers, blender, toaster, popcorn popper, electric frying pan, waffle iron, baking pans, casserole dishes, cake and pie pans, etc. We have prepared many Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas dinners there as well as baked plenty of birthday cakes! There are lots of dishes and glasses, as well as wine glasses. The dining table indoors sits 6 adults plus a child at the end. Additional children can eat around the coffee table or you can set up the card table and chairs stored in the front bedroom closet and under the queen in the back bedroom. There is a washer and dryer, as well as a table-top ironing board and iron (in the middle bedroom closet dresser). The wood-burning stove provides back up to the forced-air furnace in case of a power outage, or you may wish to start a fire to create a cheery atmosphere on a chilly evening. Firewood was stored in the bin on the side deck prior to COVID. Our winter supply has been used up. We will have more in the fall. Bed linens are stored in the bedrooms and towels are located in the bathrooms. There is a tub and shower in the main bathroom and a shower only in the master bathroom. Price quotes include the 10% TOT (occupancy tax) for El Dorado County, imposed on rental, extra guests, and housekeeping. However, Airbnb does not provide a place to include a pet fee on which there is also a 10% TOT tax. If you are bringing your dog(s), let us know how many (maximum is 2) when you inquire or instant book so we can send you a special offer that includes that. Pets are $25 each per day (plus the 10% tax). Please phone if you have any questions.
