Built in 1889-much of it original-two-story building with unique character & history + a private rooftop deck with a downtown skyline view! Property is a short car/bus ride or a 20 minute walk to the heart of downtown, The Alamo, The Riverwalk, San Pedro Park, San Pedro Creek Culture Park, and more! Around 900 square feet of private sleeping/living area with a small, efficiency bathroom & NO KITCHEN! Funky not fancy. Eclectically decorated with artworks from local artists as well as your hosts. The space IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT OUR SPACE: there is no kitchen and our space is not suitable for children under 13. The space is a 2-story/2-room building that was built over 130 years ago and is located on part of what was once the Old Spanish Trail. In the 1930's the building was added onto/expanded (where your hosts live now) and it housed a live music venue called The Rainbow Dinner Club. Mostly showcasing conjunto bands, The Rainbow was an integral part of the neighborhood, hosting many wedding parties, quinceañeras and the like for over 50 years until they closed their doors in the 1980's. My wife and I, along with our 2 sons bought the property 20 years ago and have been living and remodeling the property ever since. We live on the property in an adjacent part of the building - think duplex. Our comfortable, intimate space is located in one of the oldest neighborhoods in San Antonio called Five Points, with a great restaurant and bar right across the street from the property. The neighborhood also has several other restaurants and bars within walking distance. There is a laundromat also within walking distance. Perfect for 1-2 people, but can accommodate up to 4 max. The upstairs bedroom/living area contains 1 king bed and one double fold-out sofa sleeper. The downstairs room has one double fold-out sofa sleeper as well. Cost per night FYI - 11.75% of the money paid out to us, your host, gets paid to the City and County for short-term occupancy taxes. Guest access Private, covered sitting area/patio out front on first floor is connected to the space. Plus a private rooftop deck. Other things to note PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE YOU BOOK OUR SPACE: • This space has NO KITCHEN. Only a microwave, mini fridge (no freezer) and Kuereg coffee maker. • The main sleeping area is on the second floor and the bathroom is on the first floor. The first floor does have a pull-out sofa sleeper. • Space can sleep up to 4 people max. The upstairs bedroom/living area contains 1 king bed and 1 double fold-out sofa sleeper in the same space/room. The first floor does have an additional pull-out sofa sleeper. • This space is not suitable for small children, so no guests under the age of 13 allowed. • Noise: The neighborhood is pretty quiet most times despite being located in an active downtown residential neighborhood with all of the sights and sounds of any other major metropolitan neighborhood, such as traffic and pedestrian noise (we have a bus stop on our corner) and the occasional train horn. We also have a lot of birds around due to the abundance of beautiful, old trees in our neighborhood. • Absolutely no smoking of any kind on the property. The building is a 133 year old, mostly wooden structure. Any guest caught smoking on the property will be asked to leave the property immediately and forfeit any and all deposit monies. • Safety - San Antonio in general is very safe for a large city. Our neighborhood, like many major metropolitan neighborhoods has it's challenges but it is a very safe neighborhood. My wife and I have raised our 2 children here for the last 21 years. • This space is 2-stories and the bedroom is on the 2nd story and the bathroom on the 1st floor. If you have trouble navigating stairs, this space might not be the best for you. The building is a 133 year old and not ADA compliant. • Due to the age of the building, it has shifted over time and the upstairs floor is not 100% level, so if you have balance issues or vertigo, this space might not be the best for you. The first floor has been leveled. • This space has some taxidermy/animal decorations. If you don't like that sort of thing, this space might not be the best for you. • We have 2 dogs that live with us on the property. They do not have access to the rental suite - but you may hear them bark occasionally. • The Wi-Fi connection is good in most of the space except for on the rooftop deck sometimes it can be sketchy.
