Description

Relax or enjoy a creative retreat in our historic tin tabernacle, fully equipped and ready for your holiday. Walk in the Bluebell Woods, pamper yourself at Sequoia Spa. Dine opposite at Prime Steak and Grill. 5 minute drive to Harry Potter Experience. Easy to London, Oxford and Heathrow airport. We welcome all: lone travellers, couples, families with children, Harry Potter fans, walkers and anyone looking for a creative retreat (this is a perfect space to write or paint) The space The Mission Church is a historic building within the grounds of our home. Please note there is no WiFi or central heating, although there is hot water, a hot shower and fully functional kitchenette, so we are only hosting in the warmer months and are priced similarly to luxury glamping. Greeted by a huge open plan living space with high ceilings, a great sense of light and space, with a fully functioning kitchenette (fridge, kettle, George Foreman Grill, slow cooker), bathroom and mezzanine level. It can sleep four adults or two adults and two children. We are very family friendly and are especially looking forward to hosting City families who want a taste of rural life. History Steeped in history and brimming with character. In 1898, Mr. Henry Baldwin Finch, the owner of ‘Red Heath’ (now York House School) provided a site for the erection of a small iron building which was known as ‘The Mission Church’ (estimated cost £100),the running of which was supervised by the Rev Donnell, vicar of All Saints, Croxley Green. The Mission Church was opened on 22nd January 1903, with some 70 people present. The congregation would take pride in making the interior attractive for special occasions. The little church served local residents until 1978 during which time it was transferred into Chipperfield parish due to boundary changes in 1964. The building was sold in 1981 and is now a locally listed building. Guest access You will have exclusive access to the entire Mission Church and the adjoining patio and garden areas during your stay. Other things to note Babies We are very family friendly and have toys for younger children. You are welcome to bring your travel cot and high chair. Dogs We don't allow dogs in the Mission Church as it is a historic building.
